Speed Trials Press Release

Post by DLRA »

Here's what I sent out yesterday to all those media guys who have registered an interest.

G'Day,
Thanks for your interest in the Dry Lakes Racers Australia and the 2006 Speed Trials.

This should be your only information prior to the event, which will take place at Lake Gairdner from the 6th to the 10th of March 2006.

Lake Gairdner is part of a National Park and is under the control of the Department of Environment and Heritage (DEH) in South Australia (http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/). The DLRA leases a small part of the lake for the purposes of conducting the Speed Trials, we have a very good relationship with the DEH and wish to maintain that well into the future.

Any commercial media companies intending to shoot video at the lake should obtain a permit from the DEH, especially those that will require comprehensive access to the lake and surrounds. If you are restricting your coverage to locations that most other spectators have access to, a permit is probably not required, but you are advised to discuss your specific situation with DEH.

Your contact at DEH is Ross Allen, 08 8688 3121. Allen.Ross@saugov.sa.gov.au

As far as still photography goes, there is less of a need for a permit, so long as you do not require a higher level of access to other areas of the Lake other than the immediate race area. If you believe that you may require a permit please contact Ross and discuss your situation.

All media must present themselves to DLRA registration in the pit area on arrival at the Lake and make themselves known to the DLRA organisers and officials. You will receive any more information available at that time, at the very least there will be a spectator advice sheet and a driver's advice sheet. This is also the time to make us aware of any special requirements you may have.
If you have some form of identification that you can wear that will make you readily recognisable to DLRA officials as a member of the press so much the better. The DLRA and its officials will do their best to accommodate your requirements, but for various environmental or safety reasons may issue you with instructions from time to time. It's in your interests to comply with these instructions.

For any more information, refer to the 2006 Speed Trials page at http://www.dlra.org.au/2006.html or the DLRA Forum http://www.dlra.org.au/forum/

We hope you enjoy your time at the Lake and look forward to making you time happy and rewarding.

Keep the shiny side up!
