had a look
Thanks Chris for the reassurance, I had a look at my maps and Longreach is nowhere near anything that might flow to our lake. I heard on the news last night that Cunnamulla was next in line for plenty of water but even that is nowhere near SA. There are hundreds of little creeks marked on the maps and none of them seem to flow south. The maps also indicate lots and lots of presumably cattle properties out there. Those blokes aren't stupid, they'll have dug so many new dams to catch any water going past that there'll hardly be anything left by the time it soaks into the ground and fills up the dams. And there's always Cubby Station, which has more storage capacity than Sydney Harbour. And let's not forget that most of inland Australia is still drought ravaged, any moving water will soon find somewhere dry to stop.
Good, Fast, Cheap, pick any two!

My understanding is there's bugger all feeding into lake G except the area around the lake itself , unlike lake Eyre, which gets a drink from up north whenever a heap of water is on the move ?
