MEMERSHIP

Post by REAL Stan »

This is something that needs to be looked at,
we pay a dismal $100 life membership which needs to change.
Along with all the changes wanted.

The OLD Dogde truck, the timing & starter vans are going to need
replacing in the near future, & the rusted ones be removed.
not to mention all the changes requested. A few new water pumps
& a few more toilets the way were going.....

A yearly fee seems logical.

I knew it was too good to be true. ;)

If that's what is needed to keep racing, then I'm all for it.

Keep it reasonable though, still gotta be able to buy beer!
When I grow up I want to be a Land Speed Racer!

Would a hundred bucks membership fee and fifty bucks a year suffice?

Charge all new members a yearly nominal fee and all older "Lifetime" members an added fee if they are to race that year..

I think that the annual fee is a positive idea as it will help us keep track of active members.
The clubs constitution may need examining and the proposal if applicable be submitted for consideration.

P.S. Stan - What is a "Dogde" truck :?:

It used to be $100-00 membership and then an annual fee to cover expenses like news letter etc. Appears to me the annual fee is not getting paid. Last time I paid the fee I think it was $25-00. Then on top of that if you raced you paid what was required for that as well.

:( It will indeed be a sad day if this club prostitutes itself in this manner, what next get the accountants in to tell us that we've got to keep doubling our profits every year.

I for one maybe oldshool in my thinking but when i joined up i was told the conditions and agreed, paid what was due and was told that from that day forth i am a life member of this band of racers and will inturn hold them to their word period.

Don't forget guy's these are only idea's being put forward or maybe people thinking out loud - so to speak. Before anything can be implemented I imagine the idea's need to be put to management, a relevant comittee or a general meeting for voting on.

You're right on the $100 + $25 p.a. It was instigated when I was Secretary, and that was some time ago.

I can't afford an expensive holiday, or regular trips to motorsports events, but I can afford an annual fee to keep our sport alive. All my holiday time these days is salty, without beach crowds, sad sacks, parking hassles, drunken canetoads or the usual holiday garbage. I get to see beautiful stars, sunrises/sunsets and funloving people enjoying their favourite sport. I have met some wonderful people. I also get to drink with people I may or may not know, and have a *^$@ing good time doing it. I have not heard one baby crying in 6 trips to Lake Gairdener so that's another plus. Almost forgot; my wife stays home. Peace brother, lol.

I'm for it. $50 is pa is pin money. If we don't go to annual fees we'll go under, simple as that. What then? Watch the V8 circus? Who was it coined the phrase, Tweedledum and Tweedledumber?
