Hi everyone.

Ive been wanting to have a go at salt racing for a while now and I have finally decided to give it a crack this year.

I have the Bike and want to enter into the PP Class.

Ive got a fair amount of experence at racing bikes on the circuit and at the strip.

Ive been reading the rule book and I wanted to ask a few questions?

Section 7.B.23 How does one rig this up? I was thinking its easy enough to run a pull pill to the dash that kills the fuel pump by killing the power.

Section 7.B.24 Is this not the same as above?

If this can be answered ... Im in

What bike are you running?

7.B.23 Brake s:
Rear brakes are required and
must be an internal expanding drum type or disc brake.
Actuation may be from a foot pedal or handlebar lever.
Front brakes may be used and are optional.

7.B.24 Ballast :
Ballast may be used in all
categories. Ballast shall be securely mounted, bolted to
the frame or the frame structure. The use of hose
clamps, wire, strapping, tape and tie wraps, etc. for
securing weight or ballast is prohibited. Ballast shall
not be used to streamline the vehicle. Visible ballast is
not allowed in Production classes.
All ballast must be mounted ahead of the rear axle
(except streamliners and sidecars).

not sure if you have the right numbers?
Or diff rules book to the downloaded one

Its more I'm asking can the same lanyard work for 7.b.22 and 7b.23

And Section 7.B.24 Petrol Shutoff, is this just the kill switch next to the throttle?

I see the problem its

7.B.2.3 Fuel Pump Stop Switch
La n y a rd :
All motorcycles must be equipped with
a tether type mechanical device attached to the vehicle
and the rider, so the electric fuel pump if so equipped,
is shut off if the rider becomes separated from the
motorcycle.

I bought one from eBay and fitted it to the right side handlebar abd spliced it into the kill switch

Lanyard :

Probly if the 1 lanyard killed the ignition it would also kill the fuel pump? (your bike is fuel injected?)
If not you might be able to put it into the earth circuit to kill every thing when activated maybe.
Just a thought as my bike has no fuel pump

7B.2.4 Petrol shut o f f :
Gas
motorcycles must have petrol shut off operable from a
normal riding position.

I read this as you petrol tap, but if its fuel injected im not sure what the story is.

Perhaps Dirty Dave might have some ideas as im on a fairly sharp learning curve as well this year being my first time as a competitor.

Is what I was thinking and your comments have confirmed what I needed.

I will take you up on that offer Gary and will call you in the next few days.

The bike is injected so there isnt a fuel tap to worry about.

I use a 2 pin waterproof connector with the clip removed, seen too many salt affected lanyards to steer away from anything not sealed
