Re: Interesting article
Isn't that first a replica of the car on the cover of Genat's "The Birth of Hot Rodding""
...few understand what I'm trying to do , but they vastly outnumber those who understand why..
Re: Interesting article
I knew I had seen it somewhere
Ouote from "The Birth of Hot Rodding"
On the Front Cover
Phil Remington, a member of the Low Flyers Club, confers with his friends before he runs his 239 cu. in. Mercury-powered Streamliner down the course at El Mirage. This car consistently ran 130 MPH.
Just been doing my homework...
Phil is still alive and working for Dan Gurney and was recently part of a Low Flyers Reunion including original members; Stuart Hilborn, Phil Reminton, Dick Megugorac and Bob Wenz at the NHRA Motorsports Museum. He was also instrumental in the development of the Cobra and Ford GT-40.
And the photos are of the replica, the original being destroyed in a 1948 accident.
The replica was built by Dan Webb, another very clean and iconic dry lakes racer. Webb, also built a handcrafted interpretation of Barney Oldfield's Golden Submarine, actually enlisted Remington himself for input and assistance.
