Gday all, throwing a local (to me) possibility out there, we have Lake Walyungup down here in Rcokingham, about an hours drive south from Perth. It was used for motorcycle speedway back in the 50s, it is all fenced off but has a small carpark and gates for vehicle access, several clubs use it nowadays, model airplanes fly there, land yachts race there etc. Hopefully that would mean other recreational groups would stand a chance of being allowed to use it, with all the right insurances and environmental considerations in place of course. It is more of a sand/limestone/gypsum surface but it is hard pack, i may or may not have ridden bikes there in the past :/ silly thing to do but with permission it would be a decent test area, its only fairly small about 4 miles long at the most, but that could do a decent test run surely?

I have some concerns about the safety requirements these guys have , they remind me of a first time salt racer , not realy understanding enough untill experiance is gained
and my worry is an unbarred car with shirtsleeve and jean driver , with std retracting belts, on original seats .... just what could happen in a 1000m run with 500m braking ...
and if it does will it influence the public or insurance and be a future problem to us , esp for the likes of SATA also planning a venue not to dissimilar ,

I just saw the add on the TV and loaded the link, have now had a chance to look through the web page.

Agree, safety could really be a major issue here, I looked at their last years events results and they seem to run side by side to 275 ("kph" I presume) over 1000m with 500m braking. Don't seem to have licencing runs just turn up and go for it..... A lot of potential for bad things to happen.

Motorplex is a great venue but it would be nice to have a bit more room.
