Ryan set up a time logon protocol on the sister forum (Garage Journal) to the HAMB and it almost stopped or at least stopped 90% of spam overnight.

Well the Russians are back and it's not just us that are being inundated at the moment.
From what I'm reading there are many other forums going through the same pain.
So to protect the forum I have had to temporarily shut down self registration of new accounts for the forum.
All new registrations will be processed manually by me as admin until further notice.
I apologise in advance to those genuine new members, I will try to process all new requests as soon as I can.

Thanks to the moderators for cleaning up the bogus posts.

Being an expert at pissing people off, I would once again like to plead that you don't close the forum registration process. It took me a year to get on board, and you all know how that panned out.

Admin, I know that you are busy this time of year, have you thought about handing over the responsibility of registration to someone you trust diligently to do the job? (I'm not talking about me, so relax). Monitor every day incoming, delete what is spam. Can't be too hard to do surely?

The process is far more time consuming than you think. It has been again changed back to a manual process to join as the forum was being attacked by spammers. At one point we had 25 join in a period of 24 hours and all they did was post porn and crap that we do not need on this forum.

The process has been closed again and any one truly interested in joining the DLRA will be patient with how they access this forum and becoming an active member of the DLRA and that is not just on this forum.

To put it in perspective for you RGN. To monitor it full time is not easy. It is easier to monitor and find out before they join.

OK we are back to normal now.
It took a little bit of undocumented experimentation but the last week has been exceptionally good. Touch wood!
FYI during this last round I had just 2 genuine applications which were processed same day and about 30 bogus applications per day every day.
No members were harmed during this amnesty.

PS if you do see something on the forum that looks a bit suss, please don't follow any links and send me a PM or email straight away.
