Thanks for the updates.

.........the arse has fallen out of our office, I dunno if the powers-that-be will look too fondly on a leave request when we're at 50% and I had a month in March/April.

Here's hopin it's dry and I can pull the leave.

Thanx to everyone who has made the trip to Lake G for the inspections
Have we had any word from the DEH ?
Do we know when should we expect an answer?

Lake Gairdner is a National Park and is managed by the South Australian Government Departmdnt oc Environment and Heritage. The DLRA must obtain permission from DEH and pay for the privelidge. Permission will only be given after an inspection of the lake by DEH Rangers who consider that conditions are suitable and that minimal impact will occur. This inspection is purposly being left as late as practiable to ensure a favourable outcome. As to the exact date I'm not sure but I'll find out.

This coming weekend (Saturday 12th) we will be accompanied by 2 of the DEH Rangers who are part of the team responsible for the Lake Gairdner area.
These rangers are relatively new to their positions and are coming along to gain a better understanding of our operations leading up and during Speedweek.

I trust Cookey's just the man to imbue the Rangers with the depth and breadth of the clubs committment to the lake, I hope it goes well.

Just to add to Plucka's comments. Monday and Tuesday here had temps in the high 20's with 15-20 knot northerlys, perfect drying weather.
Yesterday morning a thin rain band went through which dropped 0.2 mm in Pt Augusta and Woomera and 1.1mm at Wudinna.
Yesterday afternoon was then sunny. Sunny and 26C is forecast for today.
There are possible showers of less than a mm forecast for the weekend.
I'm hoping this weekends inspection will find the lake in the same dry condition it was on the 14/4 when Pete and myself inspected it.

Saturday Night in Pluckas Kitchen.
Arrived at the lake at 1:00PM and met up with DEH rangers to explain and show them what we are about.
Very positive response and much support shown to us.
The ramp area looks to be in great condition.

Tested some areas that were looked at 2 weeks ago and previously.

We then proceeded out to the track area and unfortunately found that the area around the 3 1/2 to 4 mile mark to be unsuitable for traffic at this time.
We then turned around and drove south for aproximately 3 3/4 miles and found the salt to be conducive to racing, BUT alas the surface then deteriated to being soft and slushy. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Pending on this coming week's weather a final inspection will be conducted on next Saturday.
Sorry we couldn't be bearers of better news. :? :? :?

Can we look at our track positioning, maybe move everything to the east a few hundred meters or wherever gives us a dry line , ?? that 3 mile slush from memory does not extend far beyond the track most times ??

Good work guys :D the more we know the easier it will be to get it happening
