The last time I raced down under, they had to shoo a kangaroo off the course! Hope to come back someday. Great fun!

Hi Ross.

The short answer is yes, I will be competing on board the Ack Attack this season at the Shootout. We buggered it up pretty good last year with my crash. A new nose tank (water res.) had to be made and the frame had some lengthy damage, not to mention a little salt ingestion everywhere... We are all meeting tomorrow for a test fit. I had to get a new fire suit as my old one was cut off me at the meet. We are also fitting a new 9-point harness system onboard and need to make the attachments. Looking forward to the new season. Is your triple engine streamliner still in the works? Hope to see it in person someday.

Cheers.

Yep..
The tripple engined "money eating monster" is still being built...
Am currently concentrating on the logistics of moving the one tonne beast around ..
and turning a dollar to pay for it .
9 point harness you say :? what ... have you found it neccessary to strap down the family jewels as well..
Whats the scoop on Dennis and Chris with BUB 7 , Is there movement in the camp..?
Story is that Sammy is in the middle of an interesting refit... Have heard there have been changes to the rear but don't know if there have been changes to the front...
And.. The Germans are giving Max"s Vincent some serious "ACTUNG"
Should be an exciting and Interesting season for ya all...
Will be watching..

The 9 point harness basically is a 5 point with additional shoulder strap retention. The straps that go from behind me slightly lower than the shoulder blade, over the shoulders to the front star connector. They then go back up over the shoulder to a second anchor at shoulder height to keep the torso from moving forward in a crash.

Haven't heard much whether Bub/Carr will run this year. I think funding is an issue.

As for Sam, he has one of our Busa turbo motors mounted and should be a real threat. Looking forward to faster, safer runs this summer!

I was there in 2000 Rocky, my mate Lloyd and I attended. It was my first year. He said "the Americans will be there you've gotta come".

Well the Americans were the attraction but the salt was the star, I have'nt missed a meeting since.

Yeah we were as amazed as you that there was a bloody stupid roo on the track but of course we never let on.

What impressed me was Dennis Mannings way of doing things. Perhaps the best way to describe this is I spoke with one crew member, an attractive young lady and I asked "what do you do". She said "I hold the umbrella". I said what else? She said " oh thats it, I answered the add, got a trip to Australia and I don't do much else".

I also liked your trailer with annex that was designed to be towed with the annex out at 50mph so your pits could follow you to the startline.

Got lots of photos buried, I'll drag them out after racing in May. To busy building a race car now.

Rocky, you say "a little salt ingestion", mate, thats gotta be an understatement,, we missed your incident due to escapeing early back to Carmens, however after having checked the Ack Attack out the next morning, i would say there was "salt everywhere " on that sucker, ,, all the best to you, Mike and team at this years Shootout, 8) ,
