Finaly becoming a member

Postby BikerBoy » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:48 pm

I looked at joining up here a while back, but life just took over for a bit I guess.
Finaly after another dlra member recently rekindled my interest, today I got organised and posted off my membership app. form.

I'm a Vic. rider with a 2010 Hayabusa that I hope to run in Bedourie this August if all goes well and the event gets the go ahead.
If it doesn't, you'll still see me out on the salt sometime soon. Had this on my bucket list for so long now, that I'm just letting myself
down not putting in the effort to give it a go. Who knows, I might even enjoy it more than hanging on for dear life at Phillip Island.

Cheers, BB

It's only once you drive out onto the salt and experience the desolation of that expanse, the ability to race what you built not what the factory said you can have and the commaraderie and humor of some very unusual thinkers that you get to appreciate what a very special group of individuals we salt racers are. Sure it has been cancelled and delayed more times in the last five or six years than I care to count but that sort of makes those that stick to it even stronger. Take on board what Plucka says about being hooked because it is highly likely it will happen to you and from my experience so far there is no turning back.
See you in 2013 on the salt!

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I can't tell you just how long I've been wanting to do this. If it wasn't for Greg Watters, I'd still just be dreaming about doing it.
I'm really looking forward to going to Bedourie as a first time introduction to this type of racing, but I already know and you guy's
wont have to tell me twice that as soon as I set foot on the salt, it's gonna get me for life!

...except I aint lookin' forward to cleaning all the salt out of the bike for the first time. One of you experienced members might
have to take on that challenge...... show the new guy the ropes n all

Not dissapointed at all!

I know Bedourie is dirt, but it's still going to give me a good indication if this is the style of racing I'd like to persue further.
If I go okay on the dirt and am confident enough with the bike doing it.....then I'll see you on the salt next year for sure!!
