Hills factory seconds at richmond road marleston has pit shelters for sale . 3 by 6 metres peaked metal frame and white tarp clipped on with the bungy toggles. $195 . Same as our scruiteneering shelter but metal pipe . this is an indication of what it is ,not the item but the same.Tarp unclips easily to reduce damage with overnight winds .

If I've said it once I've said it more than once  buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut , a gable roof is a waste of time. If you are capable of building a race car you are capable of building a shelter, when you do make it with a flat roof because that will protect it against the wind gusts that wreck things during the night and sometimes during the day.......If it was my decision I'd ban gabled shelters because eventually someone will get hurt by one taking off.

Just sayin.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut -------- good Dr, good gable tents/ shelters have a big vent in the centre , does that not allow them to "vent" the big winds
aaaaaaaaaaand it is really sensible to Take off the cover of any shelter of a night ???????????
haaaaaarky
the chance to use my tent , shelter , bike ,would be a fine thing !!!!!!!!

the biggest worry is one taking off and crashing into a fellow competitors vehicle, ,,,

in a decent gust, them big vents in the top are worth "Jack Shite" mate,

Just speaking from experience Harky. You see lots of gabled shelters but you never see any shitty old lookin ones, whereas there's some pretty manky lookin ones with flat tops. The last two meets I have put mine up, and left it up the whole week, no problems. I've only been to five meets but I've seen some pretty severe gusts during the day too, like I said if it was my decision I'd ban 'em for safety reasons, next time we get a real belter when there's somewhere near 200 entries something or someone will get hurt.

Goggles, you were next to a shitty looking old gabled pit last meet
mine is anything but tidy, and stays up the whole week
shadecloth ... not supposed to rain out there anyway ...

I stand corrected. I would like to point out to the assembled by-standers that the shelter in question is just a little more substantial than those you can buy and from memory it had the covering all the way down to the ground, am I right Greg?

Yep, 20x10 basic pit shelter frame (cheapy)but shade cloth over top screwed to the ground both sides with a lot of 2" screws
gives us nearly 20x20 floor area with eves to store stuff
Just ignor the various colours, multiple holes and possum and or rat piss smell, it doubles as a mesh silo liner
