The DLRA are looking for an Environmental Manager

In an effort to further improve our performance in the area of the natural and cultural environment as it relates to Lake Gairdner and the surrounding area, we are asking for expressions of interest in the position of Environmental Manager. The successful applicant will work in an unofficial capacity until the Annual General Meeting in February where this position will be put to the membership and confirmed.

Title: Environmental Manager
Job Description
The Environmental Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the environmental performance of the DLRA. They will develop, implement and monitor environmental strategies, policies and programmes that promote sustainable development.
Duties
• Examine DLRA activities to establish where improvements can be made and ensure compliance with environmental legislation across the organisation.
• During Speed Week undertake random and spot checks of the greater pit area looking for potential hazards and resolving these, ensuring necessary changes are implemented.
• Author or provide environmental based articles for the DLRA newsletter.
• Provide information and education to DLRA members in how to best prepare for and setup their vehicles and pits at Speed Week.
• Make the DLRA committee and membership aware of environmental issues and responsibilities. Ensure all members of the DLRA recognise and understand their own contributions to improved environmental performance.
About the DLRA
The Dry Lakes Racers Australia conduct Speed Week within the boundaries of a National Park that is of significant environmental and indigenous significance. It is the responsibility of DLRA to ensure that they respect and protect the Lake, the lands and the flora and fauna surrounding it when conducting their events.
