Landracing tyre cost

I plan to run G/Year LSR tyres, rated to 300 mph. G/Y is about to manufacture a new batch (per Landracing.com) I have just been quoted "ballpark figure" of $850.00 each, by North Terrace Tyres. The tyre is# 2284 25.0x4.5-15 Does this seem "right?" Has anyone brought in L/R tyres from USA- I guess you incur import Duty? Thanks in advance,
Denis

Thanks Greg- I took the plunge recently and had 15" steel wheels made, because 15" seemed to be the most common, so I assumed more available, and (ha ha!) less expensive!

Prices have gone up a lot since the $ went south and new releases of the product are costing more
i brought at just over 500 US 2 yrs ago and same supplier is now advertising at 731 US

$850 AU in stock is not too bad considering a current .89 conversion rate and freight

Sounds like the build is coming along well!
I bought my 15" x 23 front and 28 inch rears for $677 probably in 2008 so the new price doesn't seem exorbitant. Not to say it is not a lot of money. Buy the right ones size wise and they should do you for quite a few years. If you don't spin!

Thanks Gary- progress is slow, but steady. To quote Dwight Yokam, "I've got a long way to go before I get there"
