Danny Thompson LSR attempt

Post by K/Pro »

Is anyone here following Danny Thompson current LSR record attempt in the USA?

Danny Thompson (the late Mickey Thompson's son) has rebuilt and modernized his father's twin Ford engine powered Streamliner aiming to break the current wheel-driven LSR at Bonneville.
The Streamliner now has two Brad Anderson unblown Fuel engines as well as totally redesigned electrics and hydraulics.
He is testing the car this weekend (11th - 13th July 2014)
The car will be run at the Bonneville Nationals 2014 later in the year.

The website about this LSR attempt is www.thompsonlsr.com

Search Youtube for "Danny Thompson LSR"

Ran 315MPH today (yesterday).
They were very happy and have headed home to wait for Speed Week next month.

Was just talking to Norm Bradshaw about it tonight. Norm was at Speed Week in 2008 which was Danny's first time at Bonneville. Ended up having a nice long conversation with Danny about what they planned to do and how as kids they had no interest in what their Dad was doing, but that changed as they got older. Makes the story even more amazing.
Keep the shiney side up........

I think it is very exciting that we are able to follow this record attempt as it takes place!

I have never been able to get very excited about the Rocket & Jet powered record attempts. (Absolute LSR)
The WHEEL-DRIVEN LSR is much more important to me.
There is a genuine "Lakes Racer - Hot Rodder" connection with Danny Thompson too.

Danny is aiming to break both the SCTA AA-Fuel Streamliner (one way) and the FIA Category A1 (two way) records.
