Hi,
I'm thinking of building a car to join in on the fun with. Will have to be budget, and probably based around a mk2 cortina (as it's what I have). I'm having trouble understanding what category to build it for though, as all references I've found are to American cars? What are my options?
Cheers,
Rob.

Re: What category for Cortina?
Hi Rob , Welcome to the forum , as Dave said you definitely need the DLRA rule book . What are your options ? almost limitless depending on finances , are you running the original running gear ( Production Class ) or modified or gas classes with 6 or V8 engine , firstly get the rule book read it then you can decide which direction your budget will allow , secondly if you have any questions there are plenty of knowledgeable members here only too eager to answer any questions , good luck .. cheers Mick
Re: What category for Cortina?
I used to have one - I'll have to download another copy. I was intending on an engine transplant but not sure what..
Cheers,
Rob.

Hey RobW
Welcome to the House of Fun
As the others have said get a Rule Book and read it and re read it
Then if you have any questions about the Rules and Classes contact the Tech People directly http://www.dlra.org.au/contacts.htm
They will provide the assistance you need to work out what you can and can't do ......
Once you have decided the Class you are going to run, the Forum is a good place to share your Build and get some input .....
See you on the Salt

Re: What category for Cortina?
There is a reason why there are so many references to American vehicles. That's because the rules are based on the Southern California Timing Assocation (SCTA) rulebook, as in Bonneville, where salt lakes racing began.
The class for your Cortina depends upon what modifications you want to do to it and what motor you want to run.
With a 4 door body you have the following categories to choose from;
- Production
- Modified
- Classic
All of these have sub-categories or classes (you need to read the rulebook, to much to explain here)
The motor you choose will also be governed by the class you choose.
eg PRO you will be restricted to 1200cc to 1600cc motors, these fall into the H class, so you could run as H/PRO
the current record for this class is 125.226 mph
