The Last Fast Place in Australia - Doco Film

Post by fstweels »

Hi Everyone,

My name is Olivier, and some of you may have heard about my documentary film project - The Last Fast Place in Australia... yes the title changed from Salt Fever... and may change again. Perhaps we should have a vote from you all.
I'm reaching out to you to let you know that we are raising funds on Indiegogo. Financing film is about as easy as financing racing on Gairdner

Some of your already have made pledges, and I thank you for your support. Every little bit counts, even if it's just sharing our campaign link with Friends, Family, Co-workers, etc... Here is the link below - please share share share, every $5 pledge really matters. Thanks.

This link is for Participants only please. The offer is discounted for DLRA members and can only be accessed if you have this specific link - https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/1971 ... n=96bee069

This link is the generic campaign link to share with a wider audience - the more the better:

This film is about you, your incredible passion for this motorsport discipline. We will be asking for release forms to be signed - probably at the Sign-In location or at the Driver Briefing. These are bog standard release forms are a straightforward agreement that we can use your image in our film. If you have any objections to this, let us know at the lake or if you have any questions please feel free to contact me (omaigniez@gmail.com)

My small crew and I look forward to meeting you all on the Salt. Thanks for your support. Olivier

Hi Everyone - here's s quick update from us at The Last Fast Place in Australia. We've hit 47% ($4001 so far) of our Indiegogo campaign target. Thank you all for your support. But we are not done yet, so please keep sharing and giving visibility to our project - share with friends family, co-workers, complete strangers, etc, you get the idea.

This film idea started 6 months ago when my friend, Matt Read, shared with me his ambition to race at Lake Gairdner. Little did I know he was planning on going to do with a 1994 M3! I had no real idea about Land Speed Racing other than some Aussie Invader type rocket propelling itself down a salt flat. I knew little about the wider community and interest in this sport discipline. While Aussie Invader or Bloodhound SSC might be the pinnacle of 100 years of salt racing technology, innovation, ingenuity, human endeavour, and financing, there is very little visibility of the wider and equally innovative, adventurous, and creative grassroots level racing community that characterizes the DLRA's Speed Week. This is a story worth telling!!

So this is why we decided to make this film. We are a bunch of mates with film making backgrounds, and we are personally funding this film. I imagine this is how most of you started out in your garages. None of us are getting paid, we are not working for anyone, we have no film production backing. We don't even know if this film will ever make it to a cinema screen - but we are shooting it with the goal of putting it forward for film festivals. This means we are shooting in very high resolution, the type that looks good on a large cinema screen, and that's not cheap, but it look good. I say, "If you're going to do it, do it right!" So, I sold my 2004 Scagliettti 612, and that hurts. But films are expensive things to make, and so we are crowdsourcing as well. This is where you come in.

Please continue to share this Indiegogo link with everyone - the bigger the buzz around this the better. And as per my previous post - there is a discounted offer available to participants of Speed Week - the link is posted there.
