Lake Gairdner Scenic and Charter Flights 2007

Post by Lindsay Matthews »

G’day all. Last year we were based at the Lake all week offering scenic flights and mercy runs when required. We hope to do the same this year but, before we do, it would be good to see what other fellow members require in this area. I have set out some prices to different locations around Lake Gairdner and beyond as last year we had a few requests for this.

CHARTER FLIGHTS. Prices set out below are total and can be divided between up to 5 passengers.

LAKE GAIRDNER TO_/_FLIGHT TIME – One way_/_RETURN FLIGHT COST
Wudinna_________________20 minutes_______________$390
Whyalla or Port Augusta____40 minutes_______________$670
Port Lincoln_______________1 hour__________________$945
Adelaide_________________1 hour 25 minutes_________$1440

SCENIC FLIGHTS. Prices below are based on minimum of 2 passengers.

SCENIC FLIGHTS___/___TOTAL TIME___/___PRICE PER PERSON
Short Scenic Flight*______20 minutes______________$50
Long Scenic Flight*_______40 minutes______________$120

* Short Flight – View the southern end of Lake Gairdner, speed track, camp area and land back on the lake (same as last year).
* Long Flight – Includes short flight plus fly half way up the 160km lake to view many islands and Lake Acraman ( South Australia’s 65 million year old meteorite crater). There is a good chance of seeing wild camels on this trip.

Other places of interests are; Woomera and the Rocket Range, Nurrungar Spy Base, Wirramina working cattle and sheep station, Kingoonya Outback Pub and Gawler Ranges area.

You can Skype me, my user name is lindsay_matthews.

All your suggestions would be greatly appreciated to make the race week more entertaining and accessible - I look forward to seeing you there!!

The scenic flight last year was brilliant!
I'll be doing that again.

Hi Lindsey and crew,

Looking forward to seeing you again, but I hope to do one of your scenic flights this year and not the Wudinna return trip again...

Thanks heaps for your help and see you soon...

G'day every one.

I have not had the opportunity to fly over the lake as yet, but talking to Len at Mt. Ives a couple of days ago, suggests the track will be fine.

So here's hoping for no further rain until after the event. I will keep you posted of any changes.

Dont forget, If any one wants to stay at the Wudinna Pub, We can fly you out and back each day as its not far to divert and pick you up.

Regards,
Pizzle
