Support / Chase vehicle

Post by Graeme H »

More questions.Sorry
Do we have to supply a chase or support vehicle and if so what are the basic requirements?
We are taking an Iveco Van to house the Bike and gear. She is hardly a speed demon.
Some one suggested we need a UHF Radio & flashing light etc

Is that right? Or only on the test Track.
If so I better start figuring out what I am going to do
Thanks

Support vehicles must have;
UHF radio
Orange Flashing Light
Extinguisher
Spill Kit
Plus support staff must be wearing orange vests.
The was some stuff in one of the newsletters, I'll dig it out and post it.
I'll also make sure it gets on the web pages, something we've missed.

Don't panic too much, you can borrow a light (give Rob a call), a pair of hand held radios are only about $70 and something you should have anyway and I'm sure there will be other teams willing to help out.

Thanks Bob
To be clear

Do we have to have a support vehicle?

Or is there a support vehicle on course in any case.
We will not need a push vehicle.

I hope I am not asking the obvious

You don't have to have one, so long as you can get to the start line under your own power and leave the startline without a push, your sweet. The rescue teams are at the other end to pick up all the pieces..........

Thanks for the help.
The support for new comers like my self is amazing. A rare experience in a competitive motor sport.

I will invest in the UHF hand held units as suggested

As an aside I have about 350 samples od Cancer Council sunscreens to distribute when I get there

Cant wait to fire the RZ up to full speed

You might want to drop the sunscreen off at the admin tent - it is a much needed item out on the lake.

Last year I forgot to apply the cream EVERYWHERE and got a bit of sunburn under my arms from sitting in the shade.

It seems even more painful when you get sunburn where you normally don't get it. Maybe we could get some feedback on that from the nude cyclist???

Graeme

Whoever is manning the Admin tent is the best contact. Most likely Rod or Carol Hadfield....

I spend the large part of Speedweek working on the "continuity"of my tan , can't get much work as a jock model if you've got fuzzy white legs and a t-shirt tan.

This however is a hot tip .Sunburn makes a cold shower a bloody luxury , It is wise however to apply sun-bloc to the "seldom-seens" With the proviso "they're mine and I'll wash 'em/apply sunscreen as fast as I like" At this point I'll stop because I need to go and finish the car
...few understand what I'm trying to do , but they vastly outnumber those who understand why..
