LSR on rails

Post by nitro-nige »

Did everyone saw the french train that set a new land speed record for trains of 574.8kph (357.2mph).
What do you think the chances are of getting a side project together and building one here?
How hard would it be to setup a track at next years speed week

It might take a couple of firemen to get Puffing Billy up to speed, but think of the fares we'ed sell.

Yeah, my first real experience of speed, apart from jets which don't count, was in 1977 on an intercity train from London to Liverpool travelling at 100+ mph. For a boy from brisbane used to the diesel hauled red-rattlers they called trains, that's really moving. Also looking down the embankment on a turn and seeing a burned out carriage at the bottom helped build the excitement :D

Then in 1997 I travelled on the eurostar to Paris at 300 km/h. Smooth as silk. So all of my high speed land travel has been on trains! I reckon 500km/h would be great.
