HOW BIGS YOUR SHED !!!

Post by DON NOBLE »

People got to be chatting about sheds in the Qld meeting thread , so figured i would start a new thread here .
When i was married i had my dream shed built 9 x 7.5 mtrs double roller doors and was green . Fitted my 2 x Desotos in there and plenty room to work .
Said shed left my life 10 yrs ago when i got unmarried .

!0 yrs ago i started my business and got a bigger shed ( no its not at home ) . Its 9 x 25 mtrs . And i,m proving the point that , it doesnt matter how big your shed is you will still fill it up . Some times we even try and fill it up with DLRA people at our meetings , but i have to clean it out to do that .

YES !
NOT BIG ENOUGH !! (The shed that is)
2 bays with 1 project, mobile work bench & work trolleys, steel racks & drop saw, with equipement spilling from 3rd bay.
3rd bay, lathe, drill press, panbox, guillotine, English wheel, welding bench, mig, tig, oxy, stick welder, assembly bench, mobile tool boxes,
3 bench grinders etc etc.
Deck above 3rd bay, also full.
2nd small shed with painting and sand blasting gear.
Rear of shed, s/hand parts and compressor. Front shed, 1 donar car, 1 possible Rod , more parts and a car trailer.
PLUS !
Leased industrial shed ( 2 cars deep X 6 plus cars wide ) Full !
Locked yard around industrial shed, only a couple of trucks ( room for more stuff !! )

Wifes Answer : Sell the shit ! What doesn't sell, take to the tip.

Do I really have to do this ?

Well you've seen mine , at least if you've been to LSR.com you have.

When we started the belly-tank I had a big four-car with a rolling slab, nice. The house I own now has a dog kennel that is falling down in which we built the car , the capping is missing off the western end , the only window is expanded metal and the doors don't lock, the floor would give any concreter a good laugh( you busy Bob?) and when I got the house re-wired the sparky said "um , no , I'll have to disconnect that power " so theres a 20A weatherproof on the back of the house to get power to it....Oh yeah it's got an asbestos cement roof ,so ,short of wading around in nuclear waste with a guillotine on a frayed rope above your head it's about as bad as it gets.

Oh yeah and it's painted that pinkish brown color that they used to paint Railways buildings in , what a bucking emfarassment
...few understand what I'm trying to do , but they vastly outnumber those who understand why..

And when the car's running it looks like the shed is idling
At least you can get into your shed
I look at my shed, which is bigger than Goggles shed, and think how the *uck am I going to get in there to do any work.
It's got two V8's and two V6's on engine stands four bikes, five scooters and a moped. Assorted transmissions and scooter engines side car bodies, and that's just the big shed
I have a yard full of old scooters, two bikes in the front bedroom (yes I am single and it's my house) I have most of a Bimota DB1 and a CB 1100R in the roof along with assorted blower kits and bike wheels.
Then there is the Monaro (which is not for sale) and it's bits.
In fact, if I lived 'til I wass 106 i would still not finish half of the projects that are sitting around at my place.
Then there is the stuff at work
Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhggggggggggggg

My 12m x 4m is puny in comparison to the sheds at Big Gazza's Jag Ranch. I remember years ago there were 14 cars in the "big" shed + about a sixth of the floor space was taken up with storage and there was enough room left over for a game of basketball.

The shed then filled to overflowing with junk and they decided to build a lean-to that was the same size as the "big" shed, it too is now full. The Jag sits in the "little" shed which is about 10m x 25m.

My "tiny" shed caused an uproar that almost ended up with the developer of our estate taking me to court for breach of covenant. It turned out the council approved the construction without checking the rulebook for the estate. I was none the wiser  and gladly accepted the free trees they gave me to hide it from the rest of the estate. So in my entire neighbourhood I have bragging rights to the biggest shed!!! Also, as a consequence of driveway, house, pergola, pool + shed, our 800 sqm block has a lawn area of 10 sqm.

It's not the size of your shed that matters, it's how you use it

It is not "They who die with the most Toys Win." but
"They who have the most fun playing with them Win."

As for the size of Rods shed. One half is a paying Museum. you have to pay the bills somehow
