2009 BUB, Bonneville.

Post by Stayt`ie »

ok fellas, thought i would get this ball rolling,,,, have a think about if you would like to go to bonnerville next year, ( ya really dont have to think , just do it  ), do you want to go and spectate, or better still, take the bike to "mecca" 8) ...
if your interested in going, now is the time to draw up your budget, and start stashing the money away, come on you can do it, deny yourself some of those little luxuries, and you will be surprised how quickly the $`s stack up, and what could be a better reward than tellin ya mates, "yeah i been to bonnerville", actually being there is way better than skieting :D .
i am not sure how much it will cost to get the bikes over there, obviously the more bikes, the cheaper it would be, maybe somewon can chime in here with that information :)
as for spectating, well i just booked my ticket to go to this years bub, and to fly mackay, brisbane, auckland, san francisco, return (air new zealand), (there are cheaper rates if you want to search around, however i use travelair in brisbane, john winterburn specialises in motorhead tours),,, 14 days car rental, and insurance, cost me $3045.00.... motel6 is a good cheap motel chain, their rates average out at about $75 a night, petrol is relativly cheap compared to australia, and so is food.. if you share the motel and car, it can really make it cheaper :D, and the dollar`s good at the moment also...
the bub event is always held around the first week in september,,, so have a think, post any suggestions/ questions here, and lets get something happening towards 09  8) :D :D

G'day Stayt'ie,

You know they changed dates for this years event to Sept 2-7th?

I'd love to get back but need to make it to Gairdner first I think.
It's a highly recommended experience and you feel a bit of deja vu having looked at pics so many times in books and mags. The vehicles, characters and the general cameraderie were great.

Cheers,
Rob

Gidday Staytie,
Ive managed to get a full sponsorship to cover the costs to go back to bonneville again this year
Last year it cost a serious bunch o cash even though we had great help from Mike Ackatiff and crew. Based on last year for the two events this year here is a rough breakdown of expenditure:

Shipping - Melbourne to San-Francisco return. Includes all customs, transportation and handling fees (3cbm crate at 600kg) $4,597
BUB Trials entry fee including FIM registration $550
World of Speed entry fee $385
FIM licence and insurance $675
ATA Carnet de passage $419
Vehicle hire - 20 days $2,400
Hotel Accommodation - 20 nights - twin share $2,035
Flights - 2 x economy return airfare Melbourne - San-Francisco $4,300
Food - 2 persons - 20 days $1,200
U-Haul trailer hire -20 days $880
Fuel (race gas and commuting) $198
Incidentals $220
Total $ 17,859

Some of those costs may be reduced with applied resourcefulness.

If anyone is keen to join us over there this year for BUB and World of Speed let me know as at this stage I have a crate but would be keen to have a container with a few more bikes as it will be cheaper.

Either way count me in for 09 too

cheers Richard

a ben, do you snore or suffer from uncontroled flatulence whilst sleeping :?: , if so there will have to be a penitlity imposed apon you for each and every mistermeaner committed, i feel you should be more concerned about this, instead off worring weather or not you can afford to go
last year when me mate came, we shared the car/fuel and motel bill, all up it cost me (9days) $3500.00 total (i dont drink much) we ate well in the casinos every night,,, this year, by myself i am budgeting on 4 to 5 grand (14days). a good hint if your short on bucks, save up for the fare (approx $2200.00) , what you spend on/in transit put on the plastic, then pay it off over the next couple of mounths , remember next year i will be over there for about 20days, if ya cant stay that long its not far into salt lake city...
with them hayabusa thingo`s everywhere, having a fellow kawasaki bloke along to help out will be no problem 8)
