Gas vs Fuel

Post by w3stie »

Probably a newbie question. Can anyone enlighten me on the difference between gas and fuel in the categories? Is gas short for gasolene as in the US? Where does NOS fit in here?

there are finer definitions but if you buy it as petrol( not ethanol added) from a servo it's gasoline....if it's something else...be it methanol, ethanol, , nitrous ,nitro, lpg, pistons or pig poo it's fuel.

Does that mean i change classes 1/2 way through a run as i start burning pistons...

My interpretation (and i'm happy to be corrected) is Gasoline without performance enhancing additives such as oxygenated , mtbe , or similar is gas class.
anything else is fuel.
Gray areas are with the DC but as we have no way of testing its largely up to the racer .

I think in Aussie its the honesty system until we get two people running the same class and they argue
