Rob wrote:Welcome aboard HA,

It'll take several reads of the rulebook before you really start to take eveything in. Best bet is to make it to the lake at least once before you jump in, it will give you a feel for things & let you ask questions of officials in person plus chat to those already "doing it".

3 Litre puts you into "F" for engine class.

Turbo(s) puts you into /B then you need to read the rules for the vehicle classes to see where you fit.

Have a read here initially as it sort of condenses things for you. /BGC is a possibility or perhaps /BMS.

You probably should start a new topic in the correct area and ask again.

Cheers,
Rob

Hey Rob,

thanks for spending the time to look at that for me.

from what i can gather i may be able to enter either of those, although it would appear i may have to swtich back to a standard body kit to comply.

i will need a cage and parachute (maybe two).

i dont plan on running this year, this its a 2011 goal for me. (assuming this is ran in 2011)

maybe i should attend this years event and get a feel for it.

As Rob stated, come for a look , then decide what you want to build. There are plenty of members who will help you along. Pete. DLRA #6

hey pete,

yeah i thought there would be a few guys that would be glad to lend their experience, thats mainly why i wanted to catch up with a few of the local crew and have a chat/drink/bbq etc :)

Come to the BBQ with your car and we'll be happy to give you some more answers. I'll bring a rule book. Pete's right, go to a Speedweek before you decide what to do. It isn't your average race meeting and you may decide you'd rather build something salt specific instead. If nothing else it stops your road car rusting! See you there.

i am just reading the rule book in regards to exhaust. it says that the exhaust must be directed away from the driver, fuel tank, course and tyres.

does this mean i can not have a screamer pipe (waste gate) unless it also releases at the rear of the car?

becuase currently it realeases under the car near the dump pipe. is this acceptable or what should be done?

Take the time to really study the photos from previous events, you will get heaps of ideas from these.
The first two rules are pretty obvious ones.
Exhaust can exit out the side at any point or at the rear, just can't point down or at the tyres. You could run a pipe straight to the side of the car (shortest route) for your wastegate.

Hi DLRA,

thanks for the pictures they are great. (really helpful)

i will get an attachment mad up to exit the side, that seems to be the most popular idea. (unless i can think of someting else in the mean time).

is there any1 organising the qld meet? because we really need to decide on the location and date. its approaching fast now.

as i said earlier i am good for any date just choose the day that suits most best.

Regards

Terry

Hello again

I've been off for the last week so haven't seen what is happening. The BBQ is still on.

So Feb 6th at 9:00am at Alexander Clarke Park at Beenleigh - all welcome. Bring your own drinks and anything specific you want to eat. I'll bring a bunch of sausages and a loaf of bread + misc items.

Look out for the white XY Falcon as that's where I'll be. Sounds like we've got a few starters. I'll get on the phone and see if I can get a few more.

Chris

You were on the list to be called. See you there.

Should also ask the question if anyone wants pre event checking over of a car/bike?

Dear all

Change of plans.... The Toowoomba swap meet is on the weekend of the 6th and 7th so we should change the date to the 7th Feb. I also discovered that I got the name of the park wrong!!!!! The one I had in mind was the Logan River Parklands - Alex Clark Park is on the other side of the river!

So the revised details are:

Sunday the 7th February starting at 9:00am till around 12:00pm
Logan River Parklands off Service Road/Blackbird Street Beenleigh

Here's a link to the map:

http://www.whereis.com/qld/beenleigh?id ... f=emailmap

I'll also start a new thread with a more descriptive heading.

See you all soon
