Well Bobs guessed it.
The old ute motor is sold and l am not alone when l say l will miss the sound.
Turbo motors sound like crap and its after much deliberation and soul searching I've discovered the need for speed and more so the need for a more technical challenge has overcome the aural satisfaction of an atmo V8.
The XP ute now has a 1UZFE Toyota V8 sitting dummied in the engine bay.
The plan is finance and consumation of the old motor sale permitting, to refresh the Toyo engine, fit good rods and pistons, re port the heads fit a single turbo and possible paraffin intercooler, maybe ice, depends on dyno tests.
HP level I'll let you know after it leaves the dyno but want to improve the speed so l can run long course with purpose.
I've purchased a Motec M8 and will run boost control with a 9 position switch to bleed the power in gradually. If the traction is sh>t like this year that will be crucial.
l'll run a single rail 4 speed again with the option to upgrade to a toploader if required.
She already runs a 9 inch so the final ratio will be decided after dyno results on the new donk.
Being my own thread about myself please accept this once only apology for some longwinded diatribes at times, I'll try and keep it relavent and to the point.
Ok so its all happening in Chris's shed and with a little help from my friends will maybe post some photos of the progress.

Just had a good read on the paraffin intercoolers. Something I'd not run across before.
Are you sure it'll be effective on a hot day Chris? Given the melting point of paraffin is 52'C and you'll be on boost for 2 minutes plus.
To quote the paraffin intercooler website I read :
Melting point: 52 degrees C
Specific heat: 3.27 kJ per kg per degree C
Specific heat of fusion: 210 kJ/kg
So to increase the temp of 1kg of the wax from 47 to 52 degrees takes 16.35kJ, but to push it past 52 degrees takes nearly 13 times as much energy. (Or, to risk causing confusion, you could dissipate in it a power of 14kW for 15 seconds to melt 1kg.)
Cheers,
Rob

I planned to experiment with parrifin on the dyno and do constant state runs and time the effect on the wax.
The problem is getting the bloody stuff out of the intercooler if the experiment fails.
Maths never lies unfortunatlely so I'm quite sure it will end up water/ice because I want to build this to run LONG course and unless we give her some nasal delivery I think the pariffin will be all over to early
No not the Dons

G'day Chris,
You shouldn't have much trouble melting the paraffin out surely? Perhaps a well placed drain plug during the construction phase. A final sluice with xylene or Citrisolv should do the rest.
How do you think your overall balance will go when it's all said and done?
Cheers,
Rob

Come on Paul, as an ex drag racer that's got to be tongue in cheek
I'd bet it's their fuel squirt bottle for the injecton hat.

Rob

...few understand what I'm trying to do , but they vastly outnumber those who understand why..
That'd be a '60-3 Ranchero, lots over there. Same but different.
