The red wagon is being replcaed by a blue one , but i just need to keep " RED " on the road a few more months . Because of the bad salt induced rust problema which has become blatently obvious , i had to fix the best way i knew . It took lots of newspaper filling and a big big tin of bog . Well at least its not brown and bubbly but more red and undulating .

Bog does'nt rust but flywire is really good and shapes better than newspaper.
For what we do they make fiberglass flywire specially for us salt lake racers :lol:

took red wagon for one last run to Willowbank drags last night . Did a pb of 14.15 @ 97.6 mph . Am retiring the 6 cyl now .
Saw some dry laker bike blokes there too on them Suzuki things doing 9s and 10s .

Progress .. bugger all . BUT this is about to change . My partner Margy is going to NZ to visit relatives for a week , and i,m going to close the business to outside work for the duration . This should give me a full week of unadulterated and uninterupted time to install the V8 .

Well that was all wishfull thinking , work took priority again .
Changed plans many times .
Red wagon is to recieve the V8 . Red wagon now sits in workshop partially dismantled . Have bought some replacement panels , eg 2 x rust free RED mudgaurds for $ 50 a pair and few other bits to convert it to a series 3 front ( slipperier ok more aerodynamic ).
Now the blue car which was to be the V8 recipient is to be the daily hack while all this comes together . BUT the blue wagon blew up big time on the Gold Coast motorway yesterday , ya should have seen the smoke . Anyway struggled back to workshop , and so it sits disgraced in a pool of oil . HMM decision time , i could put the dohc 6 from the red wagon in it or throw in a $100 2nd hand engine .

The V8( its a Nissan 4.1 litre V8 , for all you that have not been paying attention ), is now sitting in the engine bay of the Red Racer wagon . Just sitting there for a test fit , and it does . Next year it will be at the salt .

PROGRESS , not much but some . Just so busy with work .As mentioned before the engine , box was sitting in for a test fit .
Its now bolted in . The transmission bolts directly to the standard Nissan trans crossmember , in fact they use the same gearbox mount .
Engine mounts had to be custom made . I did them in 10 mm alooominum , using drawings sent to me by a guy in New Zealand .
The bonnet allmost closes , but will when i remove the traction control throttle and its drive motor ( traction controls not allowed anyway ) .
Standard brake booster had to go ( hit right side of the V as in V8 ) . Have bought a Gemini booster and will adapt the standard master cylinder to it .

I have heard the sound of the vh41de V8 on you tube , and well , I get excited . If you look under vh41de in youtube , and find a white HR31 coupe , thats the one . Its a guy in Hamilton NZ , thats been a great help with my conversion .
