Check all of your inputs Bones. Make sure they are all within spec. I had a problem where I didnt delete the original. Say that it had 20 in a box and I wanted to change it to 25. Ended up with 2025. It was out of range so wouldnt run.

New heads fitted, pipes welded but no stingers fitted. Lots more compression now. Will have to retard the ignition, has a bit of kick back when starting.

It's just keen, that's all.
I once had an iron head sportster that knew when your leg wasn't 100% into the kick'n task, and it sure did let you know !

Pipes pretty well finished, mounts and stingers done. Need to test for leaks then refit the fairing.

Have given the heads one run, no more O ring problems so far.
New loom made and fitted as well as a battery box made and fitted. Had electrical problems at Waikerie and only got one run in then bike wouldn't start. Ended up being one spade connection that I fitted years ago for the Kill Switch/Lanyard,decided to stop playing. At least it raised its ugly head there and not at the lake. Bike ran like a pig at Waikerie when it was running. Couldn't get any heat into it. Nowhere near enough advance and way too much fuel. Both fixed now. I was being too conservative. Some cold seize marks on the pistons. :( I've ordered some new ones. Going to give cast pistons a go instead of forged.
Also going to fit the thermostat back into it to try to help get some heat into the engine.

Cheers Dave,
When you were talking scored pistons etc I thought you must have run on the new dirt strip but the airport would have been good. At 500 metres you motor wouldn't have settled to temp yet especially if you had tall salt gearing would have loaded the old girl up. So don't hold back :D what speed did you post ?

Hey Johno, it didnt clear itself till mid track and posted 111 MPH. Not sure how accurate the speed is as there was problems with the timing gear. Big gains from the new set up. Higher comp, new pipes and methanol. I came down from a 16t (salt) front sprocket to a 14t for the day. Im going to run a 17t at the salt this year. Standard rear is 46t, im running 42 with option of 40 if need be to keep the revs down. Ive heard that methanol likes to have some load on it to get the best performance.
The engine development software I'm using tells me the peak cylinder head pressures & temps. I was trying to keep the pressure down by retarding the ignition. So much so that it was pouring unburnt methanol/oil out the pipes. Ill try regulating the pressure with my right hand instead. Sounds a lot better with the advance put back to where it should be.
