Graeme
You will do well ....
Just about every road bike produced between 1979 and 1982 had 35mm forks.

Excellent timing Greg,,, mate at work was talking to me today about shortening his ZX1000 forks, he knew i had done mine and wanted to know how to do it,,, stuffed if i could remember, as it was four+ years ago and being the first inverted forks i made it up as i went, ,, the old skool forks are much easier to lower than these inverted ones, ,,,

Re: It lives
hi ya, managed to get a pair of forks off a 1979 RD 250, there 35mm, 100mm shorter than the KR ones i had, i only have 10mm poking through the tripple clamps at the same height so plenty to play with, just have to trim the the leading edge of the chrome mud guard because its a bit big and bulky, i will change the fork seals and oil when i get back from work in a week, so the ride height is close to being sorted, just hope the next 4 months go quick....

Got some more bits Yesterday
Tapered pin
Inside Wiesco Pro-lite v Vertex
23 grams lighter than Vertex
Forged Weisco Pro-lites made for YZ Yamaha same apart from deck height being 0.5 mm lower and 23 grams lighter, so have to get 0.5 mm taken from the top of the barrel.
Will take a bit of strain off rods and bottom end.

You could cut one of your fingers off and you'd be a Barry Sheene replica too.Last Minute Racing wrote:If i have time i hope to make it a Barry Sheene Replica.
It's such a nice thing why pretend its something else? I reckon you should celebrate what you've made and give it its own paintjob. Both you and it deserve it.
(Yeah I know our tank is more than a bit of a nod to previous ones... we just can't think of anything better! I didn't say it would be easy!)

G'day mate,
Just wondering how you went mounting up the VJ22 glass to your VJ21?
Also did you build a new subframe for the glass tail or modify an original?
Cheers,
Lambo

Hey Lambo
The front and bottom fairing went on pretty easy, had to make a new top front fairing bracket and for the tail i cut off the original subframe off and built a new one. Was a fair bit of messing around.
All made from 16mm rhs.
Thanx

G'day Dave,
Thanks for the picks, I have recently aquired a VJ21L and I'm just about to start getting it up to scratch for the salt.
Another quick one mate, how much did it cost to get your heads done? and any reason you didn't opt for a set of VHT heads.
Cheers Dave,
Lambo
P.S
G'day old man
