Thanx Greg, yep im happy with it so far. Ive made a recess to fit into the top so I can get my helmet 50 mm lower. Just imagine it up the other way LOL. I wont fit it till ive got my seat and peg position finalized. Once thats welded in I will be able to pressure test it. Then the fun begins, fixing the pin holes. Might just put a tank liner in if its too bad.

Looks good Dave

Are you any good with aluminium ? :-)

The steering head is 750 from the ground but there is a little more to be gained with the USD-- 30mm . It all counts
I machined the OD of the fork legs on the bussa so I could slide them further through the lower triple clamp. Internally they are
parallel .
cheers Bones

Hey Bones, I havnt tried alloy as I dont have the equipment to weld it. From what ive heard its easier to work than steel. This was some of what I had left over from making my chambers. Still have to make a new air box as the old one i made used the original tank as the top. Ill do the same with this one.

I reckon with my lower profile tyre and dropping the forks ill get at least 25mm.

Bit of an update on the swinger.

For some unknown reason Suzuki decided to offset the wheel in the swing arm and then offset the swing arm in the frame. Might have something to do with chain/sprocket alignment. After it was tacked together I checked it for dimensions and couldnt work out what I had done wrong. A few more measurements revealed the offset.

Quick update. Bike is running and lowered with the low tank installed. I didnt fit the longer swing arm as I didnt want to do 2 fairly major changes. If it doesn't handle as well as it did I will know what the cause is.

Im not running Methanol this time, some Sunoco stuff. Its got some ethanol in it but should tune much like Gas.

Ive gone back to an engine that I know (Hope) works so just aero changes really to my old Gas bike.

Good to hear the Ape is up and running. Have a safe trip.

So ive been thinking about what I am doing wrong with my last tuning attempts. Checked all the ignition and jetting and cant put my finger on what i have missed. Ive made quite a few changes, new pipes, modded carbys for methanol and ignition changes. The pipes are copied from a known good set (Thanx to Pete) Ignition will be reset to a known good setting and a pair of new carbys have been ordered. New pistons are next on the list.
Ive also been thinking about my heads. The O rings were always looking like they were about to fail, after some Googling it dawned on me that I had them skimmed to check the flatness, 0.2 was removed leaving the groove to take the O ring too small. I will get the groove machined to the right size.

New carbs arrived, waiting on pistons then its time to put it back together ready for another try.

Hey there, I don't know if this is possible, but do you have the photos before Photobucket started going crazy, so you can upload them somewhere where I could see them? Thank you! I know this may take some time, and I understand if this is not at all possible. Good luck, though!

If you are using Google Chrome there is an extension that you can enable that will make it possible to view the Photo Bucket pics. Works fine for me.
