Mals Effie project
Moderator: DLRA
Ok progress.
Bridgey wants to comply with the SCTA rulebook as this is the direction the club is heading in coming years. I've ordered a new seat to comply with future ruling and this will be here in 3 weeks. Composite ie plastic, fiberglass or carbon seats are not allowed in the SCTA book so we've got a metal one ordered.
This needs to be here and sat in the right position in the cab before l final roll cage design.
The most important part of cage design is getting the drivers head in the right spot.
This project is complicted because it will have several drivers with different dimensions.
This seems to be a common problem with the club so as an education session for future builders l will be quite specific as to how l solve it.
The end result is the drivers head has to be able to see where its going and be in the right position to have the specified clearance from the head rest and the roll cage above it. This must include the helmet.
An F100 has lots of room in the cabin.
Add to this at least 3 different drivers, all different heights and try and fit them in the correct position with specified clearance from the roll cage.
By the way, one of the drivers is in Mt Isa 1700kms away.
At least we ain't building a Bellytank.
More later maybe photos
