moriwaki monster

Post by ben james »

hi guys, just finished putting kermit back together agin with my new bodywork.
hopefully give it a burn on the lake in 2011.
has new 1428 engine.
this new bodywork in conjunction with the new footpeg position lets me get a lot lower on the bike.
big thanks to steve barnett for the paint.

Hey ben,
great looking bike looks great.
Whats with the suzuki paint, i suppose i cant talk painting a suzuki with KTM orange.
Good to see the old school Z's running, how fast do you reckon she will go :?:

Can you tell me if i can get better cams for my z500 as i want to increase horsepower or do i get them re-ground or do you know of any other motor mods you know for the z500's

Do you know of any flatslide carbys for sale to suit Z500 :?: :?:

hi pete, it's not suzuki paint it's a copy of graeme crosbys z1000 moriwaki monster paint scheme that he raced in the late 70s.
they are moriwaki corporate colours.
with that z500, you would probably want wade cams to reprofile the cams. also some cylinder head porting, adjustable cam sprockets & bump up compression. some 33mm keihen carbs or something similar would suit. dyna s ignition. theres a z550 in europe that makes 92 hp at the rear wheel with these type of mods.
as to how fast it will go, wouldn't have a clue. tell you next march.
i would like to finish this bike next & design it properly for land speed as old kermit is a bit of a compromise.

hi ross, don't worry i've got smaller sprockets & i use a different back wheel. i've been out to the salt twice on the drag bike.
ducati got sold a couple of years ago, took that out there twice as well.
looking forward getting into that old z1000j. got my eye on a turbo system for it.

That'd be the kemp boys,,they learned the hard way not to use castrol R-40 as the engine oil, chewed out every bearing / crank journal /cam in the thing !
Sure sounded good though !

hi stew, the correct terminology be fly eyes. back in the 70s my dad used to wear stubbies brand shorts, we'd be working away on something crouched down & i'd forever be telling him your fly eyes are showin dad put em away. pissin meself laughin just thinkin about it.
