I had hoped Laslo would be happy drinking gas for a day or two, but 20" of vacuum @ idle does wonders for the idle circuit , too rich,,,,,
Rather than stuff around with jetting, I might as well throw the fuel carb on, now that I know it'll run,,,,

Thanks Dave(s)
I need to plumb the MikHolley, pump 02 sensor etc , go for a ride (remembering to take, and turn on the GoPro data logger) to get the oil up to operating temp, which won't take long if the heatwave continues, and hit the squirter solenoid button while watching for oil pressure drop @ 5,000 rpm.
Maybe christmas day ?

Test ride #1 is over, the oil pump CAN handle the piston squirting duties, oil pressure drops from 65 psi, to 55 psi when the solenoid is operated @ 5000 rpm , 50 psi is the minimum.
I need to look at the float level, A/F drops to the danger zone of 7+ when the midrange takes over, and it runs like a hairy goat (as it would)
The current jetting is what I used earlier in the year during testing, and it was great then, so it must be float level affecting things ?, I'll make a sight glass sorta bizzo to check it before I change anything.
I also found out it scares the crap outa 'roos, thankfully, 'cos stopping in a hurry with no front brake ain't gonna happen.

The best tuning help Iv'e ever had takes the form of the wideband 02 meter :)
It's telling me why I holed the piston last year, now its just more trial and error in the jetting stakes 'till it tells me I'm close 'nuff.
This will (?) get rid of that annoying hunting problem too, but I need to wait, as usual, for more jets to arrive from OS, but it's FAR too hot in the shed to work anyway .
WTB,,TIME ! , or just a Tardis would do for now.

"Hunting" is the result of too much cam overlap,, great audiable effect for street Rods, not good for performance, :) ,,

mmmm?
"This is caused by a rich/lean cycle at idle. As the motor leans out the RPM's increase and richen up the motor, when the motor richens the RPM's decrease and the motor leans out again. This continual cycle is known as "blower surge". With proper tuning, some of this surging should be able to be eliminated."

I have NO cam overlap now Ronnie

two things jump out at me there Tiny,, "at idle", is this at idle on start up (cold), or after the engine is at run temperature, :?: :?: , what is the difference between these two idles, :?: ,,

also, ""some" (not all) of this surging "should" (may, maynot) be eliminated",, ,, where did this statement come from, imho, its an insurance policy for whomever made it, ,,

an 02 wideband sensor is only as good as to where the exhaust cam is degreed, thay do not give the big picture,,

In my case

I still need to get rid of the surge Ronnie, have done in the past ( with cam overlap), and will do in the future (without any overlap), regardless of the cause , and the wideband sensor will help me, without having to rely on "the feel" backed up by plug reading.
Thanks for your concern mate

no problem mate, at least ya onto it,, sfa overlap on those cam numbers,, :)

imho, the 02 sensors are a tuneing tool only to get ya in the ball park, thay are not to be read as gospel,, when reading always keep in mind how much heat is or isnt escaping into the exhaust(via cam timing) in relation to ignition timing, ,,
call me ole skool, nothing but nothing tells ya whats going on better than the plugs, fuel, timing, oil issues, its all there, but, your ole skool also,  ,,

geeze its hot "a",,

Hi Tiny,
awesome video clip mate.
PLEASE dont get rid of that surging idle..........absolutely horn bag sound.....I love it.

Dont worry about the speed as long as it sounds good.
cheers Johno
