Re: Supercharged CBR250 build
Well,,bugga me !, I didn't know that,,thanks Greg.
The hollow feeling in my gut has subsided somewhat, after all, there's still sheetload of things I CAN do, like filing 4 mtrs of aluminium welds, finishing the gauge bizzo, rear guard, paint, front guard etc,,but,,I was hanging out for that test ride I promised myself,,,

Re: Supercharged CBR250 build
Things have slowed down in the creation station, well, not really, just progress has slowed, effort has increased, why is is, components that fitted previously, don't fit now ? has the earth moved on its axis while I've been working on other bits ?
It HAS run, but not with the 38mm carb, that seems to make its own jet blocking dirt, so Iv'e bought a new 42mm methanol ready flatslide.
The test run has been delayed,,but,,it'll now be with the blower fitted.
Running a HUGE plenum / inlet manifold on such a little engine has created its own problems, bugger all manifold vacuum, which translates into poorly suspended fuel droplets, which in turn translates into no combustion, without an aerostart hit, battery voltage drops below after 3 seconds of winding over,,when it hits 10 volts,,the CDI stops sparking, so for the time being,,I need a battery just for the starting duties.
The blower will stir up the fuel / air mixture and force it in,,so it should be ok.
I'll be ready though

Re: Supercharged CBR250 build
Although I'm having trouble remembering which day it is, there's no troubles coming from the creation station.
The blower is mounted for the last time, oil supply to the drive bushes is done and it's ready for the pulleys, idler and belt to be fitted.
The belt guard is tack welded, as is the housing for the guages.
Most of the wiring has been done, except for the tach , temp and oil pressure warning light.
The battery needs a strap & a charge and all these jobs should be done ready for the carb when it lands in Oz.
There's a temp postie fuel tank mounted way out front ready for the 1st ride,,,soon,,,very soon

Re: Supercharged CBR250 build
Silly me,,the square peg fitted better in the square hole than the round peg did,,but JUST.
Buyer beware, when buying bike parts from a car speed shop, the hidden agenda is to covert you into a car nut, 'cos the Mikuni is fitted with HOLLEY jets ???

I'll second that Grumm.
He Tiny, that things fully sic mate.
Will be interesting to hear how it sounds.
Always the best part when you build a one an'only.
The first fire up.

Re:Tiny gets nominated for an OBE
Well, I've nominated myself for an OBE (old bastard error) , and I'd better fess up, before someone dobs me in.
Way back in march '11 while looking into what'll do, and how things work in prep for the build, I peered into the blower and nutted out how these fangled gadgets work, well, how I THOUGHT they worked.
Well, the story goes like this I Mounted the blower so it spins the wrong way
No blown cbr this year,,it sucks !

Re: Supercharged CBR250 build
bugger! Know how that feels - we had the same issue with the flywheel. It started first kick but all it could do was idle... trailbike flywheels run the opposite side to Vespa's... well now you have more time to perfect it further!

That SUX Tiny.
Still 51 days to go and we all know how ya love a challenge.
Gear drive would reverse the direction? Suppose it cant be that easy.
