I have these 38mm Lectrons that are going on the Ported Engine. But I had an issue with getting them to open fully as the RGV Engines are set up for 34mm Mikuni's.

Well I got them to work 8) so I thought I'd connect them up and they fit ok. In the final fit up I'll make some cables that are more suited but the main issue is fixed, it made my day I tell you :D :D :D

I started the bike today with the Lectrons fitted, it was not right at first???

I found I had a leak between the Intakes, I made, and the Reed Valve blocks ooops!

Sealed them off and 20 mins of tweeking the Metering Rods (like the Needles in a Normal Carb) and it sure runs sweet, good even EGT readings.

At least I know they work and are so much easier to re tune than the OEM Mikunis, when I do the full tune.

This engine won't really benefit form these bigger Carbs, but the Engine I am building should. I would like to do a back to back Dyno test seeing it's easy to swap the Carbs. Next year maybe :D

So I can now put the Bike back together ready for February. Did I really say that before Christmas

Sounds nice and crisp Pete. Ive got dark coloured pipe on my Power Jets so havnt seen the fuel move like you can in the video. Might have to get some clear fuel line. You can buy a non return valve for the line. Not sure if it would restrict the line or not.

Don't know Dave, that's how they come.

It's pretty easy to see that it does not take much for the Power Jet Circuit to work. :D

A bit of a late update but Speedweek was a two steps forward one back event.

The handling of the Bike is now well and truly sorted.
I was able to get the Bike to 11500 rpm in 6th Gear going into the first Timed Mile, the Calculated speed was 137 mph, it went through the ruts and loose salt without a problem.

But then the Bike cut out int he last half of the Mile not sure exactly when, I was a bit busy when it happened, I pulled the clutch in and coasted through the Timers and past the clear Track Markers.

I think I had a Lanyard cut out failure ( I have Pingel switch on order ) and found a water leak in the left cylinder. two loose Head Nuts were the culprit, or an Amateur welding the Sockets was the real problem.

I have been chasing my tail trying to get the Engine sealed up again, I did find that one of the Base Cylinder studs was not in the right place.

The model RGV I have, has different length Base Cylinder Studs long at the rear and shorter at the front and who ever previously rebuilt the engine fitted one of the long ones in the front, so I am not the only Amateur that has rebuilt this Engine

So that is fixed and the engine should be back in the Bike today.

I have a bit to do for next year.

I can now get a South Oz Dyno Baseline on my current set up and then go to the next Stage with the Engine.

Ported Cylinders ( getting sent to be Re Plated soon)
38mm Lectron Carbs
New Head Inserts ( still in development ?!?)

I am also tidying up the Bodywork to suit the new riding position. Pics soon

Hey Pete
Who are you going to use to do the plating?
A mate of mine has had a excellent service from a company in NZ-- he does a lot of TZ work.
He has not had much luck with the guys in Victoria-- they are also more expensive.
Millenium Technologes in the states is very good.

Bones I am going to use http://www.poetonaptec.co.uk/

They have developed a Ceramic Plating that seems to be accepted in the UK amongst the RGV crowd.

RGV Dave got it done to his Cylinders and I believe he was pretty happy with the results.

Just back from SATA Working Bee and Dyno Run on the same Dyno RGVDave used ..... Lee must have an RGV setting as my Bike makes about the same as Dave's lol

So now I have a baseline, I can start the upgrade/rebuild for 2015.

Yeah Dave

These worked really well, so I'll stick with them for this rebuild ......

approx 12 grams lighter in total (pin, ring etc) than the Std RGV set up.

That has to help reduce the stresses at the prolonged WOT running.

more soon
