Hi everyone

I could not get to Speedweek this year for many reasons.

Things have improved and I should be back on deck in September.

I will definitely be at Speedweek 2020.

Hopefully with my Bike, if not with my Camera.

Got a few ideas as far as changing over to Unleaded.

Based on my research, I've decided that Sunoco SS100 is the way to go in a high rpm Smoker and not need new Carbs.

This will mean I have to lower my Compression a little , but I still want to have .8mm squish.

I am looking at the options using what I have in my parts bin.

I have a set of RGV SP heads, one is slightly damaged, should be repairable.

I did design two updated squish/combustion shapes on Fusion360 last year,

11.5cc for 100 Unleaded and 9.5cc for E85 based on info published by two ex Aprilia Works employee, but I could not proceed with that.

This might now be the way to go if I repair the SP Heads and get them machined to the update spec. If they don't work I'll have to use std Heads  .

Anyway what ever happens I'll see you all in March.

Pete :)

To everyone going to DLRA Speedweek, Go Fast, Stay Safe and #1 thing Have Fun!!!

I myself am not sure about my plans going forward.
I do have my two RGV/Aprilia based engines,
One is back to Standard RGV Spec and the other is now 300cc with a 61mm Bore Kit.
I still have the M Class RGV and the Long Red A Class Chassis.
I'll post again once I have some updates.

Pete :)

I have finally got something happening. Have a problem with my 250 engine and I put it aside (needs a major rebuild).
I've had the 300cc engine built for a while now, so I fitted into the RGV chassis for some testing.
It will eventually go into the long Bike for A/G/350 or A/F/350 Class.

Well I spent the last few days doing some Carb adjustment and short test runs and finally today the 300 engine runs strong and clean. 😁
It was the fifth attempt as it would not run properly with the Stock Carbs I had fitted for the first start up.
So today I fitted the Lectrons and bingo (they are set up for the fully modified 250, to start safe I richened up the Power Jets that supply the high rpm before fitting to the 300).
Low end EGTs read spot on both sides and in the safe range right through the rev range.
So it's ready for the Dyno in the next week or two, depends on when they can fit me in.

Where is the dyno you use Pete ?,, reason I ask is, have a mate in Peterborough who travels down to Adelaide to get his dyno tuning done,, im thinking if there is one closer ???

To update on what this is all based on. Here is my Aprilia RS250 300cc "Street" used kit that I got in 2012 and have finally fitted to my RGV engine (a Aprilia RS250 engine is simply a rebranded Suzuki RGV engine).

It is a full kit from the UK (Stan Stephens) that has a 61mm bore (std is 56mm) with Wiseco Pistons. So it's now a 61mm x 50.6mm Bore and Stroke 295.8cc engine. Thus the move to 350cc Classes.

It is supposed to make about the same peak power as my modded RGV 250, but with more power across the "lower" rpm.

This can then be modified further towards a Race Spec. But for now I just want to run it in Street/Pump Fuel Spec and have the allusive "One Good Run" I have been chasing for 10 years :) (Well several would be better)

Hey Ron

I was going to Lee's Spot On Motorcycles in Mt Pleasant/Adelaide Hills.http://www.lees-spoton.com.au/ They were good, however in my case I was doing the tuning, so I just needed them to operate the dyno and get a reading.

Others use Neville Lush Racing http://www.nevillelushracing.com/ to get Tuning done, but he is further south of Adelaide, relative to Peterborough. There are others but I have no experience with them.

This time I now have access to a Mainline Car Dyno virtually next door to me. (Mainline have confirmed Bikes can run on the model there and the owners are willing to help me out).

My bike fits with a adapter bracket and it's just to get a 300cc engine baseline curve and I can tweek the power jets under load to get my base 1150F peak EGTs (not interested in what the numbers are just looking at the relative changes as I move forward).

They can fit me in in about two weeks time. Things are moving forward again.

Pete
