Hi guys,

we are also running a 100cc bike. And came across the same small frontal area for a tyre as you. We found a Good Year Front Runner drag slick - rated to 300MPH. 17inch tyre- see pics here... https://www.facebook.com/AAALandSpeedRacing?ref=hl

Its a real pretty tyre, small frontal, but not cheap with the dollar and freight.

Our first year to, look forward to catching up...

Making some progress on the bikes. Nice solid bracket made for the SKyteam battery, new tyres as well. Skyteam is back from the powdercoaters and almost all back together, just needs a tune and modification to the carby manifold and the numbers added.

The Yamaha is proving to be a little more fun, I will have to make my own lanyard kill switch so that I have something that opens the circuit, but I think I have figured out how to do that. I was not happy with the first version of batter bracket so will make a second one on Monday. The new seat and fueltap have arrived and been fitted, a carby rebuild has seen it back up and running strongly on 2 cylinders, but a really good tune is still needed before racing.

Fitted the number plates to the Skyteam today and hand made a kill switch for the Yamaha to suit the bikes wiring. Took the Skyteam for its first ride in the time I've owned it so thought it would be a good chance to get the 2 running bikes outside for a quick photo:

Make sure you safety wire the axle pinch bolts/nuts etc & tape your headlight glass.(have another read of the rule book)

Thanks,

Safety wire, tyres for the Yamaha, tape for the lenses, racing numbers and fireproof sleeves for fuel lines are the main things left on the tech to-do list

Thanks to everyone who made us feel so welcome throughout Speed Week. Despite the 3000km round trip we had an absolute ball being involved and getting to compete with out 2 motorcycles. I have included some of our photos from the week below.

Full photo album is available at https://www.facebook.com/suuscustoms/photos_albums
Full writeup at http://suus.com.au/speed-week-2014-suus ... o-records/

We also put together a little video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJQTafL1l7I

Congratulations, and some great shots there. I recently heard about the little Skyteam bikes when I saw a bloke with an Ace 125. When I found out how cheap they were I immediately thought of running one at the salt. Are you going to run again next year?

Hi w3stie,

No idea whether we will be back again next year at this point, plenty of little mods still planned for the 50cc Skyteam, so quite possible. I know at least one person planning to run in a 125cc pushrod category with the Ace 125 next year. Being so cheap, relatively light and solid hopefully a few people will give it a shot. It is possible to bolt a 250cc into the same frame without modification (although improved suspension would be highly recommended). If you were to go crazy, hot up a 250, get some alloy rims, upgraded front and rear suspension, little clip-ons to hug the skinny tank, maybe a super narrow fairing, it would be very impressive to see what could be done on a tight budget with one of these Chinese bikes as a starting point.
