Critical to get it back to the sump. Your changes are all correct. Drag race tunes and philosophy all fail on the lake. Combustion temperature has no choice but build and build. Same with oil. I would like a high speed retard to nip out a few degrees of timing during the run. Always run on the fat side mixture wise. KISS. Good luck.

Well yea the motor has all the usual mods to help encourage the oil back down ( windage control, valley prep and larger drain holes) the biggest restriction is the cylinder heads oil drain holes, a bit on the small side and are very close to the water jacket which lead me to the external lines. Ideally they need to be drilled right out and a sleeve installed, but ideally we need better heads, but ideally we need a better motor all round. So for this year (as long as the track is dry) this will do to get us out there and having a go.

Update from last week. Motor and box is in and the paint is good enough. All the little bits to finish off.

Still trying to sort some scales and get a basic idea of weight balance. I know we are nose heavy, most probably lacking a bit of weight over the drive wheels and more than likely leaning to the right a bit with the amount of extra steel on the drivers side. We have about 50kg of scrounged lead left, hopefully it will be enough to balance up the left side. Not much you can do about this until the car is finished... like that will ever happen.

Bit of rattle can silver paint on the fibreglass grille .

Keep it a bit nose heavy. The arrow principle has won me over in recent years. Enough weight on the drive for traction but a bit more ahead of the COG for directional stability. A little bias to the left side to counter torque and your looking good. I will discuss the COG/COP maths with you at the lake. ( there's a link on the DLRA website). When you step up next year this will be more important. Not sure on you choice of a 2 stroke gear shift knob. Looks like we will be firing up about the same time. Your ahead of us if you have a tailshaft.

Well first thing first . Its Alive!! fired it up for the first time the other day and it sounds mint. Totally got rid of that last little bit of "grandfather image" the old Hudson had once you see a couple of little header flames jump out.

Its still no where near ready yet, but its starting to look complete now. Windows are all in and mostly everything is together. And thats not a sticker.

Rocker cover breathers; what are your plans there?

They plumb back to the exhaust. They are the mr gasket crankcase evacuation thingys.

So if the car is upside down what will stop the contents of the sump pouring onto the salt? This will be what the scrutineers will ask. Not sure how evacupans are viewed. I would bring extra hose in case they want you to do a loop. Sorry this is a bit vague. I will try and get a better answer.

Yea i know what you mean. The hoses loop down below cam level and they have a pcv valve inline. I saw that big knob racing are using the same things.

I thought I'd seen them out there. In that case Big Knob has passed so you should be fine.
