Bones

The colour is Ford "Toxic" which is a recent XR6/8 colour.

Here's a few more pictures sent through recently. One of the door trims:

Image

The door handle on the inside has been positioned low due to the roll cage and window net + there is a door pull up at the window so the handles could be shaved off outside.

+ here's the front hub assembled.

More photos to come as they get drip fed...

Got another photo sent through over the weekend. This is the dash and column...

Image

The steering wheel is on a quick release and the geared wheel is the steering position sensor. In the background is the rear wheel and a DLRA 200mph achievers poster....

Another photo. This one is of the fuel pumps. Originally there was just the one but it wasn't up to the dyno let alone out on the salt, now there's two.

Image

They are Magna Fuel pumps, electric because a mechanical pump would have been a pain to mount on the motor and not prectical. They feed into 2 dash 10 lines up to the motor.

They are two -10's coming out of the tank into two 75 micron stainless steel filter elements to two Magnafuel 750 EFI pumps with swivel head to two VDO pressure sensors with two -10 non return valves. I wanted to be able to monitor fuel pressure from each pump so if one fails it will trip an alarm on the dash and the shift light and not simply pump through the other pump.
At the engine there are two banks of six Trickflow 120lb injectors that fire in four groups through two -8 fuel rails made up by Wayne Newby at Newby Engineering. A real nice bloke that really looked after me. I would highly recommend his work. From there fuel goes through a two port Magnafuel regulator set at 50psi and then a -10 return back to the tank in the boot with a fuel temp sensor, again with an alarm level set.
Another reason for electric pumps is that to run a mechanical pump on the engine I would still need a huge priming pump in the boot and a surge tank up front. Again in the interests of safety (Rod's accident is vivid in my mind) I didn't want fuel up front, especially methanol in those sorts of quantities. One pump got us to 780 horsepower so two pumps will be plenty. They are close to the battery so with 6mm wire there should be no voltage drop.
The tank has a -8 braided s/s vent which loops from the top of the tank to the left and then to the right then to the rear so even if I endo and land on the nose no fuel will flow out. I am thinking of putting a filter on the end before it exits the car, especially for Lake Omeo.
Have I overlooked anything?

Gaz,
Have you considered ballasting the passenger seat area to get your side to side corner weights the same? Of course you have, what was I thinking?!

Cheers
Dave :D

Gaz has been working away on the Jag getting it all together again. The car was basically ready for March but it would have been a rush to finish and it wouldn't have performed well given issues that have been found since then. The change to May 28 has given him time to iron out any issues and get work finished to a higher standard. Here's some more recent photo's:

The car will sit a lot lower than the photos. It will basically be on the deck. The photo's don't show the sills back on and the belly pan in place and the front bumper is not on either. The front shot shows the bumper support that Gaz made up. The bumper slots into the two holes and a central bolt along with some at the sides holds it on. The bracket also has a jacking point at the centre so we have somewhere to lift the car from. The parachute mount at the rear is set up similarly. The big holes in the sides are for the exhaust, there was no way of routing them under the car and the passenger seat is to be used so no way to route them through the car.

It's all coming together for an anticipated departure time of Wed next week! Fingers crossed.
