Well, some things never change,,,,,,forwards / backwards land still exists.
Today was going to be a HUGE step forward , 'cos it's time to test the oil flow / pressure with the new setup.
I set up an old VT250 honda starter motor (which luckilly spins anti clockwise)driving the oil pump shaft thru some rough looking rubber oil hose of varying sizes so as to match the oil pump shafts taco drive worm gear , and the starter motors drive gear.
The reason for this is to test the oiling without actually starting the engine
The whole thing hangs off the r/h side of the engine secured by a slab of 12mm alloy plate, bla bla bla,,,,
Test No1
oil oil everywhere, from the missing gear selector shaft's hole (oops !), and somewhere that @ 1st up seemed to be from the camshaft seals, but no,,it'd help if I remembered to attach the top end oil supply line to the head,,
Well the pump still works,,fiddle fiddle,
Test No2
bugger all oil pressure 5 / 10 psi (need 50 psi)
I blocked the various oil lines 1 at a time to narrow the losses in pressure untill getting to the last point of supply, the crank, still only 10 psi ?
Theres 1 of two things happening, 1 is the main bearing oil supply hole in the crank is a bit too big still, but also a possibility is the pump drive slipping, or the oil is frothing due to the pump spinning to fast , and going from zero to 1.200 revs in a millisecond ?
I'll block the crank supply next so theres nothing 'cept the bypass valve in the system and try again, after a blow for some lateral thinking (and to clean up 1 1/2 ltrs of oil from the shed floor)
