A happy new year to all

On strip down it appears that the damage is confined to the clutch area only ,looking at the above pic , the chain was broken and wrapped around the crank sprocket and the bolts on the chain tensioner snapped off and the tensioner jambed in the clutch, between the basket and lock up ,Im lucky I suspose as the RPM's when it happened were low prolly less than 2K , in hindsight the clearence between the tensioner and clutch was 2/10"s of a nats dick obviously they shook hands and whamo , I will have to order new parts and try to modify the tensioner somehow to create more clearence . no more time or $ for another dyno session ,it will be a test and tune on the big white dyno come march ,back to my nightmare :(

I really have to get some seat time on this POS,I explored the option of drag racing but the cost of converting to meet the rules is beyond me ,both this and the busa were designed and built for LSR only , I spoke with greg Watters and It seems possible to run it at the non ANDRA heathcote and of course mangalore airport ,so in anticipation I pulled off the front end for some mods , put some spacers in the forks to reduce static sag and 40psi (air assist) this has given me some extra needed ground clearance ,now a massive 35mm (up from 25) ,I also installed duel disc brakes ,as stopping becomes an issue on these short tracks ,hoping ground clearance is ok ,only a run or two will tell ,so when is mangalore going to be booked ?? It really needs to be booked
at least several times so we who cannot T&T anywhere else can do so.
cheers

Even 35mm doesn't leave much room for front end drop under brakes Gary, best you mount some skate board wheels under the leading edge of your engine mate , You might need something to stop it turning into a D9.

gary, have you checked the clerance with the steering at full lock :?: that bike has, i estimate 40 to 45 degrees of rake, so chassie drop is going to be high,,, wont be a problem in a straight line, but if you get out off shape, and attempt to steer (lean) , could cause oversteer due to the motor, chassie or something bottoming out on the salt, at speed, not nice

thanks for that Ron ,I have just checked and its not a problem ,at full lock either way ground clearence is the same and I will prolly get 30deg lean either way ( a roundy round racer its not ) Im taking it to Casino airport next W/E for some T&T :)

Gary, please let us know all about it when you get back, a test & tune facility just a couple of hours from Brisbane sounds really good to me.

Finally had some time to play with the toys again ( sister inlaw is down for a week ) I had an engine fail after the Casino run ( more of them bugs ) and rebuilt the engine back in April ,since then mr whippy has sat gathering dust and rust ,so i charged up the battries ,replaced the vital fluids , gave it a gut full of alky and fired the old girl up ,well it runs ,needs some alterations to the fuel maps to clean up idle ,other than that a heap of T&T to sort it out ,over in the other corner sits the busa and what a sad old case it is , nothing a couple of buckets of $$ and time won't fix ,well thats it untill a runway or speed week comes round
what are the rwest of you blokes up to ?
Cheers
