You sure will,
hope the weather is better this yr and everyone gets lots of runs, pity the T&T was rained out , lots of teams were needing that for shakedowns to get the best out of speedweek
we will get there a couple of weeks later as usual

Re: BONNEVILLE SPEEDWEEK 2015
Thanks for posting that article Pete, ,, there is "as usural" a lot of dribble concerning salt conditions at Bonneville, at present, being posted on various sites in cyber space, ,, As stated in the article Mike is a local boy who has risen thru the ranks to Mayor of Wendover, he off all people would be totally aware of all concerned (BLM, Local Industries, Racers, etc ). What he says in that article makes perfect and logical sense, . Gairdner had a similar problem a few years back, , I would also hasten to add that two years ago Speedweek at Bonneville was one of their best events ever, everyone then was singing the praises of how good the salt was coming back,

That was my thinking Ron ....
I think "Social Media" is a double edged sword ..... it is full opinions and that's ok because it is about being Social
however if you want to find the facts you have to search for them ....
and then you need to decide what is Opinion and what is Fact ....

Re: BONNEVILLE SPEEDWEEK 2015
Another well written article that recognises a coordinated long term needs be put into place ...
https://www.sema.org/sema-enews/2015/31 ... _source=ET
Seems to be two issues
The immediate one is the year to year impact of the weather on running the current Events
then the long term issue of the increasing difficulty in finding suitable Salt to run a Full International Course
while Boneville may have "been studied to death" unless the Studies measure relevant Data then any of these Studies are of no help in this case
I hope out of this some Facts emerge, the real issues are identified and suitable solutions found for all of us in the Land Speed Community ...
It just goes to show what a great position we are in having Lake Gairdner as the venue for our Speedweek

Re: BONNEVILLE SPEEDWEEK 2015
There is and always will be conjector surrounding this topic,, The article states "8 miles of usable salt" ,, in 2011 while crewing for Richard Assen the FIM International course was 11 miles in length, good surface salt, and had thay wished, this length could have been extended, go figger ,,, 8 miles in all of my record passes i have parked up and waited for my escort back to impound at the 8 mile marker, and all return runs have been started from the 8 mile marker, ,, there has "always" been been plenty of track towards Floating Mountain beyond that,,,
Last year and now again this year many a going on about how Bonneville is "Stuffed", i say "BullShit", Bonneville is not good, but given good weather it is improving, all be it very slowly,,,

Re: BONNEVILLE SPEEDWEEK 2015
That is it ...
so far we can only rely on observations ... and a Log of these observable conditions each year would be a critical part of the management of Bonneville ...
however until they get Core Samples in the area that is used to run Land Speed Events, the actual condition of that Salt will remain unknown
Is it a "dressing" of Salt/Mud over a deep Salt Hardpan that leaves the Courses unusable?
What is the Salt on the Courses like after different weather events that year and the following years?
or has the total depth and area reduced over recent years, as in before and after Mining started?
again only actual measurements can determine these things ...
what is causing any observed or measured changes, that is a different issue altogether ...

Re: BONNEVILLE SPEEDWEEK 2015
And now BMST cancelled
Colorado mile is plan B for us
and hope there is some salt for WOS , SCTA needs less length than the AMA/FIM as they need equal length run up both sides of the timing so there is a better chance of it happening
