Motorcyclist killed in Salt Flats crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a 200-mph crash Wednesday afternoon.

Cliff Gullett, 47, of Bozeman, Mont., was riding in a speed trial when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed on the Salt Flats about 4 p.m., said Tooele County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Duke North.

Gullett was wearing protective gear, but died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Investigators were unsure what caused Gullett to lose control of his motorcycle, North said. The investigation is ongoing.

Cliff Gullett / Salt Addiction Tribute

Post by Rocky R »

As many of you know, Cliff lost his life at Bonneville during the Bub Speed Trials doing what he loved. My latest article at MotorcycleUSA is a tribute to Jack Costella, builder of Cliff's machine, and to Cliff and his family.

I hope you enjoy.

The last time I raced down under, they had to shoo a kangaroo off the course! Hope to come back someday. Great fun!

Yes thanks for the articles Rocky. I've been a fan of Jack Costella's designs since I first heard of the Neb Theorem II going 360 mph. Plus it just looks good. RIP Cliff. When I think what it must take to strap yourself into a machine like that, I'm tempted to say you had big cojones. But that's too easy. You knew the risks, and you chose. That's courage.
