I'm a little suss on that car being classed as a lakester as the leading paragraph of "special construction" says "modified production bodies are prohibited" and that looks to be using a production style body at the rear.

Doc,

The body apparently is a shrunken 'glass one like the little FJs, Falcons etc they race here with the bike motors in them. Oz Cars? I can't remember the class here.

Cheers,
Rob

An edit from the landracing forum.

It's a lakester. The body is from one of the fractionally-dimensioned dirt cars. OK for Special Construction -- no automotive body parts in the build. Resembles a coupe, but down-scaled. Also about 70 MPH off the record. Real nice car.

from me :- have seen it and it sailed through tech first time up .

Maybe it's just me....but I don't get it.

If you're going to build a lakester the basic principles of aerodynamics are just a click or two away, that car is kind of like the racing class you're talking about, dinky.

There is no cheap way to get involved in this gig and you'll end up feeling like a dill if you realise after blowing the bulk of your dough that you're , shall we say, pissing in the wind because you bought someone elses pigs ear.

er hang, on win what?

We seem to be at cross purposes here.

I have never made any attempt to disguise my beliefs and interests in landspeed and yeah, I am an idealist.

I am a wage earner and don't have access to a professional workshop. We spent a lot of time building a car in my garage after spending a lot of time researching the history and science of landspeed racing, I don't claim to be an expert but at the same time I don't mind pointing out a problem if I see it. I have made many posts over the years along these lines, I'm happy to be proved wrong because that will help me go faster with the same power and that is the spirit of landspeed racing.

I spend a lot of time encouraging people and giving advice to the best of my ability,we recently GAVE the entire CAD file of our car to two guys in the UK who are building a flathead powered Canberra bodied bellytank...My advice to a friend or anyone who asked me would not be to buy that car above.

I work in a field( that has nothing to do with engineering) where risk assessment and legal liability are critical issues , I hope my colleagues speak up when they have concerns about something I may have said. If you reject my comments about what you have posted then I expect to hear it in a logical argument.

I want our club to improve, to work well and for the people involved in it to build fast, beautiful and safe cars.

Al Fountains car is a bargain, that car isn't, it will never be a genuine contender because it has poor aero.

The issue with the shade stuff? Well, I'm calling it as I see it and the way I see it is poorly designed shade is dangerous.

If you want to leave that's your choice.
