Post by weezilco »

Would anyone happen to have any airplane wheels & tyres? Looking for something with a rim dia ~10"... perhaps from Cessna 152/172 etc.

Thanks!

Found 'em! A mate of mine is a Qantas pilot... he turned me on to an aircraft parts guy.

Heading out tomorrow to pick up a few 6.00 x 6.00 tyres and wheels to suit.

Whee hoo! Got a motor... half a frame... and now wheels. :)

Just be careful with those aircraft tyres Hadfield tried some when he was chasing 200mph and they flew to bits

re aircraft tyres

Hi All!,
Suggest you LISTEN to Mr. Lynch. He' has been doing this stuff for a long time!
Aircraft tyres are designed to be driven from the outside not the inside!
Mr. Hadfield (Rod) could explain this in detail from his years of experience.
Cheers,
Trevor

Does that mean you would have to mount them so the rotation is reversed!!!

If these are for the aps-g-50 50cc rocket it may not have quite enough torque to upset the cessna tires .

BUT it is something to be aware of in other applications and i'm sure we all appreciate the heads up , till now i would have thought aircraft tires a reasonable option for some vehicles
