Looking possibly doing a BGC. Can you use a factory style bodykit in BGC and if so, do 500 of them have to have been built?

By my enterpretation of the rules for GC , ( and thats the class i raced in ), is that body has to be standard apart from wheel arch radiusing allowed . 500 cars of that model had to have been built . So I believe yes has to have been 500 built with the body kit . If you cant fit into that class then move into B/GALT (altered class )

The car has no kit yet, but I was considering one that improved the aero of this model quite a bit. Trouble was they only made 302 of the model with the bodykit.

What's the advantage in opening up the wheel arches?

as far as I can see no real advantage apart from being able to fit wheels easier , and it looks kind of cool

Personally , I think you should be allowed to run in B/GC .
Maybe the rules should be changed to suit Australias smaller population . Our rule book is based on the USA SCTA rule book . They have about 10 times the population . Say for example a production run of 100 cars would surfice .
I believe our scruteneers can be flexible , as long as its not safety related .

The actual class I'm looking at is E/BGC, just to save any confusion, but yeah you're right I'm surprised this hasn't come up before. We've had some awesome cars produced in this country but most of them were only produced in low numbers.

The idea is to run my old VN V6 Commodore in the class but with a frontal area of 27sq/ft it'll need some help. The VN Group A bodykit has proven 300km performance at Bathurst so I know it works but they only made 302 VN Group A's.

My other option is to use the VH commodore I have here as well. It's frontal area it 25.2sq/ft but I think it would have a much higher CDa than the VN so it becomes a toss up of aero versus size.
