Back protectors

Post by Mossy »

And another question as we're getting closer to the event.
In the old DLRA rulebook I got when I joined, back protectors were mandatory for bike riders so I went and bought one.
In the new rule book there is no mention of back protectors!!
Have they been taken out through an oversight or because its been decided their not as good as people thought?
Should I still wear it anyway?
I need to know so I can work out how much of the xmas excess I need to shed from around my middle to fit into my leathers.
:D :D

Gday Mossy
I would highly reccomend one and would not leave home without one . I am sure it will be in the rules and would not leave it behind. No need to test out the theory just get your mate to apply a orbital sander to your back with your leathers on and wonder whether you would like to have a bit of hard plastic to sand through until he gets to the skin !! I dont think i explained that well except to say bring your back protector !!!

Mossy, this topic came up a while back and I think my comments at the time were something like "I suppose it depends how much you value walking, having sex and going to the toilet at a time of your own choosing". A back protector won't slow you down, wear it. You'll never be sorry you did.

But enough of that, I just wanted to say I'm enjoying your build diary, it is great to see an old bike resurrected with parts scrounged from all over the world and then put to its intended use.

Cheers

OK, you've convinced me. I had figured as I had it I may as well use it.
Might have to try it tonight and make sure the jacket zip will do up. :D :D
Glad you like the diary, will update it soon.

Yeah, my back protector shrunk in the wash too!
If its got b**bs or wheels its bound to be trouble!
