motorcycle chain

Post by hawkwind »

Its time to replace the chain was using a non oring chain which decreases the friction but its essential to lube and adjust every run and chain wear/ streach was a problem ... chain is a 530 ..... looking at an EK 530 ZZZ oring what are the blokes with 300/ 400+ RWHP using? how long are they lasting?

cheers

A good quality 530 chain with or without O rings should stretch at the same rate. Wear of the pins on a well lubed non O ring chain should be the same as an O ring chain I would have thought. Find out what chain Brett is running. That seems to work quite well. :)

Gary we use o ring Tsubaki sigma 530 on the busa and apha 530 on the 750
they last well, minor adjustments till it settles then its good for the whole meet
non o ring can't keep enough lubrication where it needs itr, just flings out
first yr in the USA we trashed a non o ring drz drag chain in 8 passes , lubricated every run , but it stretched a lot every time and a day short of the finish we decided it was too risky to run again
yet i have had a lot of use out of a DRZ at the drags, they are very strong ,just the wrong chain for landspeed

Thanks Greg ......I have been using a Tsubaki HQR (non oring) no problems except as you rightly point out no matter what or how you lube it the lube is gone after a run . then the salt sets in and rust thrives thats the main reason for replacement. Ok will price a sigma :)
