Ok lets get back on track , the railway track . Been told I am now licensed to drive the deisel loco on the Bay of Islands Vintage Railway .... So I voluntered to drive the train on its 4 excursions for today . We run the deisel loco tourist train on Fridays @ 11 , 12 , 1 and 2 o,clock . The loco has no speedo , just a tacho and a few half working other gauges .
Normally run at 1100 rpm , but as we were a bit late on a trip today , I had it wound up to an earth shattering 1300rpm. Was rocketing thru the rural countryside , except when we have to stop and chase cows off the track when we run thru farmer Browns paddock . Speed does amaze me , so I turned on the sat nav gps thingy on the mobile phone to check our incredible forward velocity . Our peak maximum speed for the whole journey was 17 kmh . Stuff ya 200 mphs , I,m going for 20 kmh one day ...

um , refresh my memory , a bits happened since March , and the memory banks getting smaller as I get older .....
I took my 100cc Yamaha to the lake as a run around in 2005-6 . Fired it up recently here in NZ . Found it didnt want to move unless I gave it a whole lotta revs . Diagnosed as chain seizing up due to , I guess , salt and red dusty stuff . Now me becoming as frugal ( tight as hey bro )as a kiwi these days , instead if buying a new chain , am trying to free up all them links , a slow and labourious task .

G'day Don,

Probably all that "good" music you keep subjecting yourself to

You took more than one bike motor to NZ didn't you? There was talk of Don the bike entrant next year or in the future, possibly your motor into an Aus based frame for cheaper freight etc. etc..

Cheers,
Rob

Da other day , was playing tour guide to my daughter Amy , who had come over from Oz to visit her dear old Dad . We was driving along a straight road I hadnt been along before . Now a straight road is a rare commodity in this here neck of the woods . Was flat , straight , good surface , only a few farms around hmmm , Bay of Islands Speed Racing Association , hmmm

YAE , went to my 1st car event since I been in NZ .Last Saturday , at the railway I play at , they had 80 old cars turn up . Not 1 holden falcon or val to be seen , plenty hillmans vauxhalls morris jag mg . Poor old kiwis of past , looking at the pommy stuff , no wonder their motor industry collapsed . Now on a brighter side , plenty of USA type iron , including 2 x Desotos , fair few mopars , gm and ford stuff .
After that I drove home in my Japmobile , the type of vehicle that well and truelly rules the roads in NZ
