On the weekend I became a " driver under understruction " on the Deisel loco at the Bay of Islands Vintage Railway . Once I get a license to drive the deisel, then I can learn to drive the Steam loco .
Heres an older video of the train .

Hey Don,
Although I too am passionate about all things that are steam powered (having served an apprenticeship as a "true boilermaker") and working on and repairing riveted boilers and steam engines, I am concerned that you may be, never the less alluding to the possibility of a class for steam powered locomotives up at Lake Gairdner.
The logistical side of running in such a class, although not insurmountable may require input that has never been seen before in the realm of land speed racing.

Hey Mr Noy , you getting to be on the right "TRACK " now . We could hook 2 x locos together , its called "double-heading " . Thats trainspeak , what us experienced " EL LOCO " ppl say .
BUT here,s the piece de resistance ...We could hook all vehicles up together , do one communal run , using gps of course . Racing be finished by 10 am Monday , and we all retire to the Barossa or Clare Valley vineyards , for the rest of the week , and bench race on the whole damn experience .
UM signals , hows about a couple of cannons , that fire red or green clouds of stuff , think of the audio-visual effects .

I owe, I owe, so off to work I go.
HEY GUYS,
WE MAY BE ONTO SOMETHING HERE
However it may be prudent to keep it low profile for the time being 'lest the SCTA boys cotton on and hijack the idea
Here's the plan
We put together an "Online SpeedWeek" whereby we all come up with scatterbrained ideas for classes and how we can efficiently execute the running of a hypothetical meet that can accommodate the maximum number of runs in the minimum amount of time with the least amount of effort and input.
The winner will be presented with the inaugural "Dave" award.
No pun intended.
What do you think

Hmmmm. It seems to me you folks are suffering some kind of salt deficiency in the diet or suffering from salt withdrawal symptoms. You are all starting to hallucinate and coming up with daft ideas.
Mind you, Don's the idea of retiring to the Barossa and Clare Valleys to bench race is not entirely without merit. We can always spend some time at Cookey's local and sup on some fine local ales.
BTW the steam tractor at the back would have to be called Liberace for obvious reasons.

Retiring to the Barossa Valley has been done before, PJQ got stranded here a few years ago, looking forward to a repeat performance, might be a bit of a session in 2010, missed Don when he was here unfortunate to circumstances, but I'm sure Don would allow himself some more time in future event to cover some serious drunken bench racing. Freduece hows the Build going my friend is getting really serious with his vintage speedway and is very keen to run the car on the salt,, he is starting to think he is Victor Edelbrock.
Don't Worry, It only seems Kinky the first time..
