The Two-Stroke Cycle Engine - book bargain

Post by internetscooter »

Sometimes when something seems to good to be true, it actually isn't...

SAE have the latest two-stroke technical book I am aware of for only US$20 (+ postage)!!! http://books.sae.org/book-r-267. The same book sells on Amazon for US$190. I ordered 2 and they arrived today no problem.

Hi
Thanks for pointing out this great deal.
Have you read "The High Performance Two Stroke Engine" by Dr John C Dixon.
It is a way technical read but it has heaps to offer.
Thanks
Richard
P.S....Do you design your own pipes?

I haven't read the Dixon one but I'll see if the RMIT library has it.

The Heywood + Sher book is designed for engine designers with lots of maths, however it is still readable ignoring the sums. It has things like direct injection technology, opposed pistons and other weird and wonderful information. I'd guess the Dixon book would be like the Bell book and tell you "how" in practical terms, where as the Heywood + Sher is more the underlying concepts. You can see the contents on Amazon.

We have built our own pipe but we cheated a bit in the rush to get ready. We found someone with pipe design software that already knew the KDX port timing and paid for a design to our specs. It saved us pulling off the head and measuring (which is nontrivial)

Hi
The Dixon book is very maths orientated. So you should like it.
Do you know which pipe software was used. I have a few myself.
Thanks
Richard
P.S....Ordered a copy from SAE myself....I have quite a few SAE papers ...PM me if your interested
