tyre date stamp?

how are the tyres checked for ,,,,within date,,, is there a code or a symbol
to demonstrate the age of the tyre

4 numbers embedded into the sidewall

format is as follows for eg 4805

meaning manufactured 48th calender week of 2005
1 FAST HAYABUSA 217.443mph so far
9 Official Timeslips over 200mph
